LITERARY CRITICISM
Literary criticism is the comparison, analysis, interpretation, and/or evaluation of works of literature. Literary
criticism is essentially an opinion, supported by evidence, relating to theme, style, setting or historical or political
context.

READER RESPONSE
Reader response theory identifies the significant role of the reader in constructing textual meaning. In
acknowledging the reader's essential role, reader response diverges from early text-based views found in New
Criticism, or brain-based psychological perspectives related to reading.

QUEER THEORY
Queer theory is structural critique and close reading; it attends both to the broader structures of knowledge
formulation, and the rhetorical power of language. Queer theory also suggests epistemic critique, questioning the
naturalized premises of traditional epistemology.

MARXISM
Marxism is an economic and political theory that examines the flaws inherent in capitalism and seeks to identify
an alternative, which he called "utopian socialism."1. Marxist theories were influential in the development of
socialism, which requires shared ownership by workers of the means of production.

TEXT BASED
Text based also refers to documents that contain only text, such as program source code, batch and shell scripts
as well as HTML and XML files. Text-based documents are readable in any text editor and most word processors.

FORMALISM
Formalism describes the critical position that the most important aspect of a work of art is its form – the way it is
made and its purely visual aspects – rather than its narrative content or its relationship to the visible world.

ARCHETYPAL
Adjective. archetypical (comparative more archetypical, superlative most archetypical) In the way of an archetype,
in the way of an idealized model or most representative.

FEMINISM
So what does feminism mean to us? Quite simply, feminism is about all genders having equal rights and
opportunities. It's about respecting diverse women's experiences, identities, knowledge and strengths, and striving
to empower all women to realise their full rights.

HISTORICAL APPROACH
The historical approach involves understanding the events and experiences surrounding the composition of the
work, especially the life of the author, and using the findings to interpret that work of literature.

MORAL APPROACH
The moral/philosophical approach is defined as an approach that suggests that the larger purpose of literature is
to teach morality and to probe philosophical questions, in the words of Samuel Johnson. It is believed that
authors intend to instruct the audience in some way.
