SALVATION
BIBLE TEXT: Obadiah 1:17
S
INTRODUCTION: alvation theologically means deliverance from the consequences of
sin, sin itself, and a new walk with God through faith in the substitutionary sacrifice of
Jesus Christ. It entails accepting the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross of Calvary and
making Him our Lord and Saviour.it is however a spiritual process and state.

OUTLINE 1: WHAT HAPPENED AT EDEN (GEN 3: 1-24)

1. The Serpent (Satan) deceived the woman. Rev 12:9
2. The woman ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and gave to Adam as
well.
3. Man then fell from his place of dominion and lost the life of God.
4. Man became a sinner and occupied a sevenfold position before God as seen below:
(a) A debtor to the law of sin and death. Ezekiel 18:20.
(b) A condemned criminal guilty of sin.
(c) An enemy. Romans 5:10, Romans 8:7.
(d) A slave of sin. Romans 7:14.
(e) Defiled and unholy. 1Tim 1:9, 2Tim 3:2
(f) Dead in sin. Eph 2:1,5, Eph 4:18
(g) A poor stranger
5. The earth was cursed, the woman was cursed and the serpent was cursed.
6. Man was banished from Eden.
7. God made a coat of skin for man.
OUTLINE 2: THE PRICE FOR REDEMPTION
Since the greatest loss of man was the life of God in which all his inheritance was found,
then the price for man’s restoration has to be something equal to the life of God. What
could be equal to the life of God, if not His own life as found in His blood (Lev 17:11).
The blood of animals could not redeem man, they were only used to cover the sin of man
for a period of time. So God had to come in flesh in order to have a blood. Through this
blood which is the life of God Himself, we were redeemed.
OUTLINE 3: FROM THE UPPER ROOM TO THE CROSS (Matt. 26-27)

2. The prayer in Gethsemane.
3. The scarlet robe and the crown of thorns. Matt. 27:28-29.
4. The 39 stripes.
5. The significance of the cross and its mystery.
OUTLINE 4: SEVEN DOCTRINE OF SALVATION
The sinner occupies a sevenfold position before God and so needs the sevenfold salvation
that God has provided through His son.
The seven doctrines of salvation are works which God performs when the sinner properly
enters into Christ. The sevenfold doctrines of salvation includes:
 Forgiveness.
 Justification.
 Reconciliation.
 Redemption.
 Sanctification.
 Newness of life.
 Adoption.
