1. Please describe with your own words, what is the difference between kitchen utensils and
kitchen equipment?
Answered :
- Kitchen utensil are small thing in kitchen that can easy to move anywhere and
easy to carry, for examples the kitchen utensil are knives, spatula, pan, cutting
board etc.
- Kitchen equipment are the large equipment that use to produce a product by chef
in the kitchen but it’s not easy to carry or move to anywhere, for example the
kitchen equipment are oven, stove, working table, salamander etc.
2. Please mention and describe the function of the Knives that a chef must have in the
kitchen!
Answered ;
- Chef Knife : this knife you can use to slicing thicker and harder food
- Fillet Knife : this knife you can use to filleting fish and meat
- Paring Knife : this knife you can use to peeling, trimming and removing seeds
from fruits
- Bread Knife : this knife you can use to slicing or cutting bread and cake
- Carving Knife : This knife is used to carve fruit or vegetables and courgette to
beautify dishes
- Boning Knife : this knife use to separate the meat from the bones
4. We know that there are 2 main utensils to measure ingredients in the kitchen, they
are scale and measuring jug.
-I thing the liquid must be using the measuring jug because the
scale measuring the weight not the volume
-I thing the solid material must be using scale because the scale
measure the weight the solid material and if you use the measuring
jug to measure solid material it can’t be accurate
5. There are 3 kinds of Mixer Attachments as mentioned in the pastry utensils. Please mention
those 3 Mixer Attachments and describe each function!

- Flat beater or mixer blades : for combining any mixture that has a normal to
heavy consistency for example used to cake, biscuit, pastries, icing and sometime
use for mashed potatoes.
- Dough hook or dough arm : for kneading all types of dough and heavier pastry
- Whisk or whip : for blending ingredients smooth and introduce air into the
mixture for example make whipped cream
