SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8

LEARNING COMPETENCY: Determine the Various Social, Moral, and Economic
Issues discussed in the text listened to. (EN8LC-III-
7.4)
I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to;

 identify the various economic issues discussed in listening texts;


 analyze the causes and effects of the economic issues; and
 suggest possible solutions to the social issues presented.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic : Determine the various economic issue discussed in the text listen to.

Materials: Power Point Presentation, Video and Image Presentation, Visual


Aids, Pen and Paper

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Prayer

2. Checking of Attendance

3. Review of the Previous Lesson

Elicit student’s generalization about the previous lesson

4. Motivation (ACT ME!)

The teacher will divide the class into three (3) groups. Each group
will be given an issue that they need to act.

Mechanics:

1. Each group will act the issue given to them. And will come in front by group to
act the said issue.
2. When the teacher says FREEZE all the members will stop acting.
3. The other groups will guess what issue did the said group act in front.
4. The group who will guess the issue will have the points.

B. Activity ( 5 MINUTES )

The teacher will divide the group into (2) two.

Direction: Complete the semantic web below by filling in the boxes with possible causes
and effects of the different issues.

The teacher will ask the students the following questions;

 How will you identify an economic issue?


 Why do you think we need to solve these economic issues?

D. Abstraction

Lecturette on the various moral issues.

ECONOMIC ISSUES are situations that reflect the scarcity of resources which are
deemed insufficient to satisfy human wants and needs.

An issue becomes an economic issue under the following circumstances:


 It involves inflation or the increase of price of basic commodities and services affecting
a large number of people.

 It involves an increase of unemployment or not having a job to earn ones living.

 It involves poverty caused by underlying factors such as lack of education, cultural and
religious discrimination, overpopulation, unemployment and corruption.

E. Application

Directions: Listen to an explanation on poverty from the United Nations and work on the
following questions.
