The Caucasian Chalk Circle

 The Caucasian Chalk Circle tells a story about what happens when the law
clashes with justice and inquires about who is correct and who is incorrect in
complex situations. A Narrative introduces the concept that things should be
given to those who deserve them. will look after them while two farms fight over
ownership of a valley.
 The plot of the play begins with an uprising in Grusinia , when Governor
Abashvili is deposed and executed, Natella, his wife, flees the new regime,
leaving her infant behind. Michael, his son, was left behind. Grusha, a palace
kitchen maid, steals the child away so that it does not end up in the hands other
new government.
 The story poses many questions about the complexities and moral decisions in
relation to raising a child and also how families can be broken by conflict,
jealousy and greed.
