BSED-ENGLISH 2A

ELT 6 - MIDTERM EXAM

EXPLAIN THE FOLLOWING TEACHING APPROACHES

1. DIAGRAMMING SENTENCES- To make sure your syntax is understandable and clear, consider
diagramming your sentences. To emphasize good grammar, sentence diagramming makes sure your
writing follows the basic English sentence structures. Here are some ways diagramming might help you
write better.

2. INDUCTIVE TEACHING- A larger self-education and self-discovery technique that has gained favor
recently is inductive teaching. Since the learning process is in the hands of the student, it may be a very
powerful tool for boosting interest and participation.

3. DEDUCTIVE TEACHING- this is a classic method where rules and information about the target
language are introduced at the start of the lesson and continue through examples. In classrooms where
teaching grammar structures is the primary objective, the ideas of this methodology are typically applied.

4. INTERACTIVE TEACHING- enables the kind of instruction where students actively participate in their
learning so that they can take in the most information and knowledge from their teachers. Students are
typically included in interactive teaching methods by teachers using a variety of techniques.

5. FUNCTIONAL-NOTIONAL APPROACH- The notional-functional approach in ESL refers to a method of

organizing a curriculum around "notions," which are actual contexts in which people interact, which are then
further divided into "functions," which are particular goals of communication.

6. SITUATIONAL CONTEXT- Explains the cause of an event, the suitable response, and the measures
that should be taken in that circumstance. It belongs to the categories of context that affect
communication. The environment in which an event takes place is known as the context.
