Media …….. a big role in the way that people are able to comprehend the world around them.

The debate ……..violence in the media contributing to violence in adolescents has been raging
for years. Dozens of studies ……... been conducted in an effort to relate violent behavior on the
big screen to violent behavior in real life. In all fairness, it is valid to have such concerns.
However, perhaps the real issue is the glorification of violence in media, ………than the
presence of violence itself.

The saturation of our daily lives ……all angles through media ….. as film, television, and
literature is arguably one of the biggest cultural shifts of the 21st century. As stated by the US
National Library of Medicine – “ Research evidence has accumulated over the past half-century
that exposure to violence on television, movies, and ……. recently in video games increases the
risk of violent behavior on the viewer’s part just as ……. in an environment filled with real
violence increases the risk of violent behavior”. The desensitization towards violence and
dangerous activities, such as substance abuse and handling weapons without proper training,
most definitely plays a large role in the appeal to young minds. However, at this point in time,
media …….. far beyond the unrealistic violent scenarios that most …….. concerned about and
instead ventures into the territory of the very real and accessible violence that is genuinely
common in everyday life.

According to a lot of studies…

THE TALKINGS POINT OF THE OSCARS

It was the biggest talking point of this year’s Oscars - actor Will Smith slapping host Chris
Rock during the live broadcast.

Rock …….. joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, as being ready for “GI Jane 2” – a
reference…. her shaved head. Pinkett-Smith has been open about having alopecia,………
causes hair loss.

Smith then walked to the stage, slapped Rock, and sat ……down and started swearing at him.

Well, the gongs are gone, and the red carpet is …., and we can safely say the most-talked-
about moment of the 94th Academy Awards won’t be Timothee Chalamet’s bare chest or Amy
Schumer dressing up as Spider-Man or even CODA’s historic win.

No, all we will remember from the 2022 ceremony……. be Will Smith whacking Chris Rock and
yelling at him to “keep my wife's name out of your f...... mouth” – moments ……… winning the
best actor gong. The very definition of awks.

Shocking as that moment is, it’s far from the first time an unscripted moment has snuck into the
minutely planned live Oscars telecast and stolen the show. Here are a……… of the other times
the awards themselves became the Oscars B-plot.

Thanks to a BTS snafu, presenter Faye Dunaway ………. handed the wrong envelope and
announces La La Land to be the winner of the biggest award of the night - best picture. The
producers of that film got all the …………. up to the stage and were smoothing out their
speeches before Jordan Horowitz had to take the mike and say: "There's a mistake. Moonlight,
you guys won best picture".
Moonlight is a beautiful film, but it's fair to assume that millions more people have seen that clip
than have seen what emerged as the true winner.

1995: Samuel L. Jackson can’t hide his disappointment It is a cruel truth that as soon as an
award is announced, camera operators in the Dolby Theatre train their lenses immediately on
the ………nominees.

Hollywood is well aware …….this, which is why you almost all see the also-rans on their feet,
stretching a smile across their faces and energetically applauding the winner …………of yelling
“what were you thinking, you idiots?!” at the rest of the audience.

Of course, if there’s ………who you can rely on not to do the accepted thing, it’s Samuel L.
Jackson. When Martin Landau was announced ……..the winner of the category in which he was
nominated, the best actor, cameras moved in on Jackson – and caught him clearly enunciating
a swear word straight into millions of living rooms around the world.

1974: That’s not a streak on your screen...- During the 1974 broadcast, photographer Robert
Opel managed to gain access to the backstage area, reportedly by masquerading as a
journalist, and ran …….. onto the stage completely naked in the middle of the ceremony.

He streaked behind British actor David Niven, who quickly composed himself and came ………..
with the famous quip: “The only laugh that man will get in his life is by stripping off and showing
his shortcomings”.
