This study aims to determine the effect of increasing the level of arginine-lysine in low-protein feed on
the growth of male native chickens in the pullet phase (13-18 weeks of age). This research was carried
out from May to August 2022, at a free-range chicken farm owned by a breeder located in the Sasi sub-
district, Kota Kefamenanu sub-district, North Central Timor district. This study used 80 free-range
chickens aged 12 weeks with an average body weight of 900 g. The method used in this study was a
completely randomized design (RAL) of randomly placed chickens consisting of 5 treatments and 4
repetitions. The treatments given in the study namely: P 0: Control feed + 0.50% arginine + 0.42% lysine +
17% CP, P1: Control feed + 0.60% arginine + 0.51% lysine + 16% CP, P 2: Control feed + 0 .70% arginine +
0.60% lysine + 15% CP, P3 : Control feed + 0.80% arginine + 0.69% lysine + 14% CP, P 4 : Control feed +
0.90% arginine + 0.78% lysine + 13 % CP. The variables observed in this study were body weight gain,
feed consumption and feed conversion (FCR). Data analysis used analysis of variance (ANOVA) and
Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed that the weight gain at P 0, P1, P2, P3 and P4 were
respectively 85.67 ± 0.61, 90.63 ± 1.30, 100.71 ± 1.55, 94.33 ± 7, 16, 86.71 ± 1.19 g/head/week. Feed
consumption was 512.36 ± 16.91, 527.47 ± 10.15, 580.34 ± 9.82, 545.70 ± 41.05, 508.94 ± 3.56
g/head/week. Feed conversion of 5.98 ± 0.16, 5.82 ± 0.03, 5.76 ± 0.01, 5.79 ± 0.03, 5.87 ± 0.10. Analysis
of variance showed that treatment had a significant effect on body weight gain, feed consumption and
feed conversion of pullet stage male chickens (P<0.05). It was concluded that supplementation of 0.60%
lysine + 0.70% arginine + 15% CP (P2 treatment) in feed gave the best results in body weight gain, feed
consumption and feed conversion of pullet stage male chickens.
