ABOUT KENIA

Kenya is an East African country that

rises from the coastal plains of the
Indian Ocean to the mountains and high
plateaus of the interior. Most of the
population lives in the mountainous
areas. The capital, Nairobi, is located at
an altitude of 1,700 meters. Although it
is close to the equator, the altitude
makes the temperature cool.

The Kenyan ethnic mosaic is officially

made up of 44 ethnic groups. The main ethnic groups are the Kikuyu, Luo, Luhya,
Kamba and Kalenjin. In 2017, Kenyans of Asian origin, primarily from India, were
recognized as the 44th tribe.

Kenya is one of the most stable African countries after its independence from the
British Crown in 1963, Forty ethnic groups, including the Kikuyu, dedicated to
agriculture, and the Masai, shepherds and ranchers, inhabit rural areas, which still
today house three quarters of the country's population

The official languages are English and Swahili, which have the status of lingua
franca. However, there are about a hundred different mother tongues.

The national currency is the Kenyan shilling.

Mexico, whose official name is the United Mexican
