Lesson Objectives TSWBAT: Spell grade-level phonics words with 80% accuracy.
Materials Whiteboards, markers, erasers, picture cards, word lists,
comprehension books, Haggerty and Fundations teacher
annuals, letter cards, magnet boards, Fundations paper, fluency
books, supplemental sheets.
Planning for Learners Differentiation: I am differentiating the content. The students
will be divided and placed into groups based on their phonics
level. The word lists given in the introduction and
words/sentences given during the rotation where they are with
me will be pulled from their phonics unit.

Modifications/Accommodations:
Lesson Presentation
Introduction Orally give them one phonics word with each of their ending
sounds and have them spell it on their whiteboard.

1. Give the students cards with pictures for their phonics
Approx 70 Minutes word on them and a list of words. Have them write the
appropriate word on the back of each picture card.

2. Using a dice with each of the six sides marked


accordingly (person, place, thing, proper person, proper
place, proper thing) have the students roll and give an
example for whatever type of noun it lands on. Do it
until ach student has landed on all sides.

3. Have her read them their comprehension book for the


week.

4. Have her spell their new trick words on the big


whiteboard and the students copy her on their
whiteboards.

3-Minute Brain-Break

5. Do Wednesday from week 17 from the Haggerty book.

6. Letter card drill.

7. Give each student 5 words from their new phonics unit


and have them spell them on their magnet boards using
the following steps.

- Teacher says the word.


- Students tap the word.
- Student spells the word.
- Student touches each tile in the word and says the sound,
blending afterwards.

Assessment

8. Give them five words from their phonics unit and have
them spell the words on the Fundations paper.
(Obejctive 1)

9. Have them take turns reading their weekly fluency book.


Lesson Wrap-up 1. Have them complete a supplemental sheet from the
curriculum.
