Lesson Objectives TSWBAT: Identify objects divided in half with 80% accuracy.

TSWBAT: Divide different objects and shapes in half with 80%


accuracy.
Materials Fraction pizzas, playdough, coloring sheets, math book, crayons,
scissors, sheets needed for assessments, supplemental sheet
Planning for Learners Differentiation: I am differentiating the product. I know she
likes and responds well to visual aids. I incorporated this into the
lesson with the pizza and playdough and so on.

Modifications/Accommodations:
Lesson Presentation
Introduction 1. Ask her if she knows what a half is. If she does ask her
how many pieces something is in when it’s broken in
half.
Approx 10 Minutes
2. Show her s fraction pizza that is whole, and one what is
broken into halves. Pint out that the half one is broken
into two pieces.

3. Have her make her playdough into a “pancake” and have


her break it in half.
Sequence of activities 1. Give her the choice between the fraction burger coloring
including assessments page and the regular fraction coloring page and have her
color them and cut them out.
Approx 40 Minutes
2. Ask her to point out which one is the halves piece.

3. Help her to complete page 161 in the math book.

4. Have the para help her complete questions 1,2 and 6 on


page 162 in her math book.

Assessments

5. Give her a sheet with 10 different circles divided into


different fractions. Have her circle all the ones that are in
half. (Objective 1)

6. Give her a sheet with a circle, square, triangle, and


rectangle on it. Have her divide them in half. (Objective
2)
Lesson Wrap-up 1. Have her complete a supplemental page from the
curriculum.
