HOMEOSTASIS

 Homeostasis is involved in every organ system of the body. In a similar vein, no one organ
system of the body acts alone
 A state of balance among all the body systems needed for the body to survive and function
correctly.
 Three examples of homeostasis are: Body temperature regulation. Blood pressure
regulation. Blood sugar regulation.
 BALANCE
FEEDBACK MECHANISM
A FEEDBACK MECHANISM IS THE PROCESS THROUGH WHICH THE LEVEL OF ONE
SUBSTANCE INFLUENCES THE LEVEL OF ANOTHER SUBSTANCES.
A NEGATIVE FEEDBACK AFFECTS THE PRODUCTION OF HORMONES IN THE MENSTRUAL
CYCLE.

LESSON 4: THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE

Each month, one of the ovaries releases an egg — a process called ovulation. At the
same time, hormonal changes prepare the uterus for pregnancy. If ovulation takes place
and the egg isn't fertilized, the lining of the uterus sheds through the vagina. This is a
menstrual period.
It is a complex cycle controlled by female hormones that cause regular bleeding
(periods). The menstrual cycle has four phases: menstruation, the follicular phase,
ovulation and the luteal phase.
