GENERIC NAME: CEFTRIAXONE

DOSAGE/ROUTE/FREQUENCY: 5 mg/vial IV Infusion for every 12 hours.

PHARMACOLOGIC CLASSIFICATION:

PSYCHOLOGIC CLASSIFICATION:

INDICATION: Susceptible bacterial infections of the lower respiratory tract, skin and skin
structure, bone and joint, UTI, septicemia, pelvis inflammatory disease, intraabdominal
infections, and meningitis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Ceftriaxone is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to
the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.

MECHANISM OF ACTION: Ceftriaxone is used for the treatment of the infections such as
Respiratory, Skin, Soft tissues, Urinary Tract Infection /UTI, ENT, caused by susceptible
organisms.

SIDE EFFECTS:

ADVERSE EFECTS:
Toxicity: Ceftriaxone overdose may increase the risk of urolithiasis and subsequent post-
renal acute renal failure.
