ANGELS IN YOUR PRESENCE

SHEIKH DR. OMAR SULEIMAN

EPISODE 1: THEY’VE GOT YOUR BACK

Every single person has two angels to protect them and one devil to whisper evil. In addition, a person also has
two angels who write down their deeds. In total, each person has four angels to care for them and one devil to
tempt them to do evil. Four angels are always with you taking care of you. Some ibadah invites more angels.
Harm will occur when Allah commanded them to step aside.

Personal note: Reflect upon the accidents that could have killed you. But here you are, still alive. The angels
have done something to protect you from being killed.

EPISODE 2: HOLD YOUR PENS

When you’re about to commit a sin, stop immediately. Do not rationalize. When a person first commits a sin,
Allah commands the angel to hold his pens for a period of time (6 hours). If the sinner repents within 6 hours,
the sin will not be written down.

Personal note: Observe the five daily prayers. 3/5 of the prayers are not far from each other (less than 6 hours
before the next prayer comes). The period of before asr, maghrib and isya’ is the time when a person tends to
commit the most sins. Repent more at these three prayers.

EPISODE 3: FASTING WHILE OTHERS NOT

Angels pray upon you when you’re having suhoor. Angels pray upon you a person who is fasting around people
who are eating.

EPISODE 4: SLEEP WELL

Before sleeping, you cried yourself remembering tragedies and what your life should be if you have done
certain actions. You feel remorseful, depressed, and ungrateful. You end your day by counting calamities.

When you do that, you just responded to devil’s wish which is

“End your day bad”

“End your day bad”
“End your day bad”

There are many ways to end the night. Pick the best option. Respond to angels’ prayer of to

“End your day good”

“End your day good”
“End your day good”

… by taking ablutions, al-Mulk, forgiving others and ayatul kursi.

EPISODE 5: SWITCHING SHIFTS

Quran that is recited at fajr is widely witnessed by angels. The glorious moment – All your angels are gathered
and listening to your Quran recitations at fajr.

EPISODE 6: AS YOU STEP OUT

Recite the prayer that you always do, angels will respond to your prayer – each sentence.

Bismil-lah, tawakkaltu AAalal-lah, wala hawla wala quwwata illa billah.

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor
power except with Allah.

Abu Dawud 4:325, At-Tirmidhi 5:490

EPISODE 7: THE BANNER ABOVE YOU

Visualize what do you want when you recite prayer leaving the house. If the person wishes for Allah, angels
will carry the banner above your head stating this person goes out for the sake Allah SWT.

EPISODE 8: RESPOND TO HATERS

The greatest test of humility is when you meet a person with no good character.

EPISODE 9: YOUR BROTHER’S HONOUR

Abu Ad-Dardā' (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and
blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever protects the honor of his brother in his absence, Allah will protect his
face from the Fire on the Day of Judgment.”

Sahih/Authentic. - [At-Tirmidhi]

Explanation

The Hadīth states the virtue of someone who defends the honor of his Muslim brother. If someone speaks ill of
your Muslim brother in his absence, you must defend him, silence the backbiter, and deny the evil speech. If
you fail to do so, you would be forsaking your Muslim brother.

Allah SWT will send an angel to protect your face from being burned from the Hellfire on the Day of

Judgement. If you are the one who has slandered someone, you’re suspended over the bridge.

EPISODE 10: THE HONOR OF YOUR PROPHET

Defending your brothers carry many good credits. Defending Prophet SAW carries much more good credits.

Jibreel is with whoever defends the Prophet SAW. Now, look when the West drew caricatures of Prophet SAW,
who defends Prophet the most? Go with them as Jibreel is with them.

EPISODE 11: AMEEN AND FOR YOU AS WELL

There is a connection to praying for your brother behind his back and defending his honour behind his back, and
there are also etiquettes and benefits that are often missed in doing so. What is the best way to pray for
someone?

Du’a for other people in secret is accepted and supported by the angels.

The best way to pray for someone is:

1. Make it a habit to supplicate for others. When you come across someone randomly, just say, “May Allah bless
them. May Allah make it easy for them.”
2. Know who you want to supplicate for. Imam Ahmad made a list of name of who he wanted to supplicate the
night before. Instead of praying for ourselves which might not be granted, it’s way better to supplicate to others
because it is 100% accepted. Besides, we will be rewarded with what we wish for others too.
3. Diversity supplication based on individual needs.

EPISODE 12: THE BEST SUPPLICATION

When you pray for others (and yourself), do not forget to pray for the Prophet SAW.

What if the only du'a you made was salawat on our Prophet ‫ ?ﷺ‬Learn more about how the angels respond to
the prayer for our most noble brother:

َ ‫ ٱللَّٰهُ َّم‬.‫ﷺ‬
‫ص ِّل َعلَىٰ ُم َح َّم ٍد َو َعلَىٰ آ ِل ُم َح َّم ٍد‬

Allah-humma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala aali Muhammad Oh Allah, send your blessings upon
Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the
Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “whoever sends blessings upon me,
Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold”. Narrated by Muslim (384).

EPISODE 13: BE FAIR WHEN YOU JUDGE

Do not let your hatred towards a person leads you away from justice.

Whoever is forced to accept a position, an angel will come down to him and guide him.

EPISODE 14: THE SEEKER OF KNOWLEDGE

Whatever it is, to leave home with the intention of seeking knowledge or spreading knowledge is the most noble
pursuit.

EPISODE 15: NO STRINGS ATTACHED

The statement of “I love you for the sake of Allah,” means you are not expecting anything from the person. The
person is not holding any political position or someone who may benefit you in this world. Thus, the group
whom you could say this is the oppressed group – a nobody – a homeless, poor person.
