This hands on course is offered as an introduction to classic etching techniques with a focus on traditional copper etching. Participants will receive detailed instruction on image and material preparation, the etching process, and traditional printing with a professional manual press. The course will run seven classes, in which time participants will see demonstrations, and participate in active studio time under the supervision of a professional instructor. Suitable for Beginners as an introduction to Etching and the Print Studio Course Fee: $250.00 + tax Additional $25 in class fee for additional course materials 9 Participants Maximum.
Heather Aston (monotype)
In this course participants will explore both watercolour and oil-based monotype techniques. Students will receive individual attention regarding drawing, painting, and composition and learn to print using a manual press. Along with technique students are introduced to different papers, materials, and the experience of working in a studio atmosphere. The course will open new possibilities for expression while exploring colour, form and line. There will be discussion and class critiques throughout. Suitable for any level of ability and as an introduction to the Print Studio and Practice. Course Fee: $250.00 + tax Additional $25 in class fee for additional course materials 9 Participants Maximum. Heather Aston is a full time artist/printmaker and works out of her home studio and the Dundarave Print Workshop in Vancouver, BC. Raised in West Vancouver she graduated in 1971 from the Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr University) with Honours in Printmaking. She has taught printmaking for 20 years in various schools, institutes and local studios. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries in Vancouver and Toronto.
Both the novice and advanced printmaker will find DPW printmaking classes that accommodate and challenge their skill level. Courses are held throughout the year on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 10 pm. (unless otherwise noted) Class sizes are kept to a minimum in order to facilitate individual instruction.
Daemon Baldwin is a full-time graphic designer and part-time artist with an MFA in printmaking. A move to Vancouver 6 years ago has provided the community foundation and resources to continue the pursuit of his dream of becoming a fulltime artist and part-time designer.

Please register in person during our regular hours of operation. 1640 Johnston St, Granville Island Wednesday to Sunday: 11am to 5pm Telephone: 604.689.1650 Email: info@dundaraveprintworkshop.ca Course Fees: $250.00 + tax Additional materials cost will be determined by the instructor (ranging from $10 $25 depending on the course) Payment options: VISA, Master Card, cash, personal cheque. Withdrawals: With notice of more than two weeks, DPW will refund fees minus and administrative fee of $30. With less than two weeks notice, DPW will refund fees minus an administrative fee of $50. Cancellations: Course may occasionally be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen reasons. Should DPW cancel a course, a full refund or credit for another course will be issued.
Intended to allow students taking courses at Dundarave to access the studio for open use outside of class times with a technician present.
