THE PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

You use the present perfect to talk/write about:

 Recent actions: e.g. I have just finished my homework (already – yet – just)
 Past Experiences (without a definite point in time): e.g. She has travelled to
different countries but she has never visited (never – before – once, three
times)
 Actions that began in the past and continue up to the present: e.g. You have
studied English for ten years now (and you are still studying English).
Emphasis on how long (for + period: for three years // since + definite
time or moment: since yesterday)
 Actions that happened in the past but have an effect or influence on the
present: g. He has crashed his car so he has to go to university by bus
now. When it happened is not important.
