MICRO TEACHING.
INTRODUCTION TO MICRO TEAHING.
Micro teaching,a teacher training techniques currently practiced worldwide,provides teacher an
opportunity to perk up their training skills by improving the various simple task called teaching
skills.
Micro teaching introduces the teacher trainee to a wide range of teaching skills and allows the
teacher trainee to practice each skills one at a time until he or she becomes proficient in the skill.
Later on the teacher trainee will be able to link such skills to achieved the desirable outcome.

TYPES OF MICRO TEACHING


• Skills Of introduction: This is the ability of the teacher to explain certain topics of the
subject before lesson starts.
• Skills of questioning: This is the ability of the teacher to ask questions before and after
lessons to determine whether the students understood the concept of the matter.
• Skills of demonstration: This helps makes things meaningful and simpler for students. It
helps teachers link learning with real life situations that is describing and explaining of
principles,concepts and ideas to a students by showing them experiments.It also helps to create
lively environment in the classroom. Examples wall chart in basic school, teaching learning
materials (TLMs)etc.

• ADVANTAGES OF MICRO TEACHING.


• It increases the confidence of the learner teacher.
• It allows the learner teacher to focus on specific skills and strategies.
• It improves the planning and organization skills of the learner teacher.
• It helps to breakdown teaching into simple components and makes learning of skills and
subject content easier.

• DISAVANTAGES OF MICRO TEACHING.


• It is time consuming.
• It is difficult to create realistic teaching scenarios or tends to reduce the creativity if the
teacher.
• It can be challenging if the material taught is complex or if the group if students is large.
• It requires insightful supervisor.

Conclusion
This kind of teaching practice us currently relevant to a teacher mentorship and trainees attending
to supporting teaching in school(STS)for observation.
Inconclution,micro teaching has improved the educational system if the country,such that it has
improved the skills and the techniques of both teachers and trainees.
