1. DESIGN
1.1. STRUCTURE

The crane structurally complies with European Standard F.E.M. 1.001 3 rd


edition, Revised 1998.10.01

It is classified as follows:-

1.2. LIFTING EQUIPMENT

The crane is designed for handling:-

 I.S.O. containers of 20ft. and 40ft., lengths, all with appropriate lifting equipment.
The spreader being provided initially is a Bromma single lift telescopic spreader
model YSX40E for 20ft. and 40 ft. containers.

1.3. MAIN DRIVES

Each main motion is classified as follows:-

1.4. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

For the design and selection of the equipment provided, the following climatic
conditions have been considered :-

In-Service Wind Speed : 20 m/s


Out-of-Service Wind Speed : 42m/s
Temperature Range : -10º up to +50ºC
Atmosphere : Dust and Salt-Laden with Industrial Fumes.
Humidity : Up to 100%
Rainfall : Heavy
Dust Storms : None.

2. SAFE WORKING LOAD


The S.W.L. of the crane is 40 Tonnes single lift Tonnes under Bromma YSX40E
Telescopic Spreader.

The spreader beam and rope attachments, collectively known as the ‘lifting
equipment’, have a total weight of approx. 7 Tonnes.

3. MAX. PERMISSIBLE CONTAINER ECCENTRICITY

Containers weighing up to 35.5 Tonnes.

This load being placed up to 1.22m. of the container length longitudinally and
0.20 m laterally for all size containers being handled.

5. TROLLEY UNIT

2 x 35 kW AC Motors with Liebherr AC Speed Control. (Self Powered Trolley).

Speed : 120 m./min. Full Load or Empty Spreader.

6. LONG TRAVEL UNIT

6 x 35 kW AC motors with Liebherr AC Speed Control.

Speed : 100 m./min.

7. SLEWING SYSTEM
1 X 9.2 kw AC Motor with Self Contained Inverter Drive.

Speed : 1.2 RPM.

8. POWER SUPPLY
3.3 to 20.0 kV, 50 /60 Hz, 3 Phase + Earth, 3 wire, earthed neutral system with
approx. 260 m. of cable for 520m track length (to be confirmed).

10. DESIGN FEATURES


10.1. The crane is provided with a lattice structure for beam and uses welded down
trolley rails. The crane incorporates a machinery trolley with a sophisticated
hoist rope reeving system encompassing cross travel and long travel anti-sway
systems.

10.2. All main motions are controlled using AC Control Technology.

10.3. A computer based Fault Condition Monitoring / Memory and Crane


Management System is incorporated.

10.4. The crane is provided with a High Tension 3.3 to 20.0 kV, 3 phase + earth, 3
wire + earthed neutral system, high Voltage supply with cable drum for 260 m.
cable (to be confirmed).

10.5. An EMS digital display is provided in the driver’s cabin, which displays rope
and tared load, spreader height, spreader status, wind speed, fault information
etc.

10.6. An Anemometer System incorporating audible and visual alarms is provided.

10.7. Hour meters for recording the operation time of the various drive units are
installed in the main electrical switchgear.

10.8. The Crane incorporates a Rotating Machinery Trolley. The Hoist unit with its
anti-sway reeving arrangement is installed on the open trolley, a house is not
installed. The anti-sway system employs eight (8) separate hoist ropes, which
keeps spreader/container extremely stable in trolley and long travel condition.

10.9. A Cable Inspection Platform for the festoon cable system is provided.

10.10. The Crane is fitted with a Bromma Telescopic Single Lift Spreader for 20ft.,
40 ft.. Model YSX40E, with spreader cable basket for coiling of spreader cable.

10.11. A multi-point Telephone System is installed.

10.12. A long travel control station is provided at ground level.

10.13. All crane travel motions of the crane are protected by pre-limit and final limit
switches.

10.14. The crane is provided with automatic storm pins, one set on each long
travel rail.

10.15. The hoist gear is provided with two primary electro-hydraulic disc brakes.

10.16. A spacious de-luxe driver’s cabin with tinted safety glazing is provided. An
air conditioning / heater unit, blinds, a spare seat, windscreen wiper and washer
is provided.

10.17. The crane is provided with an electrical house for the switchgear H.T.
transformer and main switch. It is provided with cladding of “sandwich type”
construction with very high insulation properties. The Electrical House is air-
conditioned.

10.18. A stairs system is provided from ground level to main beam and cabin level.

10.19. An extensive tool list is provided.

10.20. Power factor correction equipment is provided.

10.21. In preparation for the future installation of a Container Positioning System, an


Encoder is installed on the Trolley and Long Travel.

10.22. An Anti-Collision System of the Non-Contact Type is installed on each


crane.

11. LIFTING EQUIPMENT

The crane is provided with a Bromma telescopic Single lift spreader


model YSX40E, which is attached directly to the hoist ropes. The
spreader is designed for 20ft. and 40 ft. containers. The permitted load on
the YSX40E spreader is 40 tonnes Single lift.

12. OPERATIONAL LIMITATIONS

Full operation with full load over full length of beam in winds up to 20 m/s.
Simultaneous motions
Hoisting / lowering, trolley travel and long travel can be carried out
simultaneously.
