Long known at the island of a thousand temples Bali is indeed home to thousands of holy Hindu temples, repositories of sacred artifacts and spiritually imbued as to earn Bali its alternate title as the island of the Gods. A "cow whisperer," helicopters and infrared cameras: no effort is being spared to find Austrian runaway cow Yvonne, who escaped slaughter in May to seek refuge in a Bavarian forest.
The cow has become a media star in Germany and Austria, having evaded capture for almost three months, with one German company putting up a 10,000 euro ($A13,892) reward for her capture earlier this week. 'day again readers and here we go for another weekly crap on. It's been as usual a great week in the A.F.L and let's face it, if the Pies win it's a good week for me anyway bla bla bla. I'm going to come clean and tell you all that I've been in Australia for a little while now and upon my return I have been bombarded with stories about what's going on up here amongst the legendary expat community from Sanur to Canggu. What can I say other than WOW This guy said that and the other Aaliasj@kutaweekly.com fellow reckons this and that women did this and so on and so on. I have heard about the fellow that is going broke and the couple that are having trouble and the guys who are drunks and the fellow who king hit that guy (from behind I might add) and the list goes on and on and on, and quite frankly I'm over the whole lot of it. What happened to coming to Bali and enjoying your life? Did you people get lost along the way?? Have you all forgotten how good your lives are here?? One of the best ones I heard was that a good friend of mine was deported or will be deported for apparently working without the correct documents. This from the mouth of a red nosed idiot is completely untrue. I know who said this and who it was said to, and I'm going to use this editorial as a medium to get a message to the rumour monger who started this little piece of bullshit that he should stop making up stories about people that are here on a bone fide (you may have to look that one up if you can read matey) visa doing what they do. Get a life you fool and start concentrating on the rats in your kitchen. I did hear another ripper about a very good business in Bali that was apparently going broke or has gone bankrupt, so I took the time to call the owner to confirm this, only to find out that it was just another story. It seems punters that when someone doesn't know anything at all about the truth, they just make up a story and for the most of us up here, that stinks. So many people I meet, come to Bali and want to move up here to live, and I say do it, as most of the expat contingent that are here at the minute are lost as they couldn't make it in Australia or their home country so they come here and give it a whirl, only to work out that they haven't got enough coin or can't work with the locals to do what they want and fail miserably. Mostly they don't pay their bills and continually offer excuses why, with some good operators making a really good go at it and living here with their families for many fruitful years. I think Bali needs a heap more intelligent people to move here and to work with the great local people and cultivate many, many opportunities. Bali really is a great place to live and the locals do try very hard to accept us and our customs to their island. I'm sure the locals are as fed up as some of us with the little dwarfs that annoy everyone when they are tanked and the dribbling idiots after a big session on the little green bottles. I think what some of the expats need to remember is to mind their own business and to concentrate on doing their own thing instead of being involved in telling fibs about things they don't have a clue about. Some need to act a little more like adults and treat the local with a bit more respect, eg whistling to a waitress isn't the way you would call one to your table in your own country is it ?? So don't do it here. Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I will wind up by saying do unto others as you would like other to do unto you, and remember, Karma has a sting like nothing else, so watch your back matey. Ok folks, there you have it, the flem from my chest translated into words for another week. No doubt some of you won't understand what you just read, as some of you can't read, but for the most of you try to take even a small part of this on board and lets all enjoy Bali as best possible. NusaBali reports that residents in and surrounding of the village of Pemuteran in northwest Bali are compelled to take fewer baths due to the high cost fresh water. For more than a month the cost of one tank of fresh water has risen to Rp. 100,000 Rp. 125,000(US$11.40-US$14.20). Swedish woman who left baby outside restaurant investigated

A Swedish woman who police say left her baby unattended outside a Massachusetts restaurant while she ordered food inside was reported to a state agency for possible child maltreatment.
Police said they were summoned to the Bueno Y Sano eatery in the western Massachusetts college town of Amherst after the 1-year-old boy was left alone in his stroller on the sidewalk for about 10 minutes. The woman, who authorities did not identify, said she "found nothing wrong with the situation" and that it was common in Sweden to leave young children alone outside a restaurant, said police. The boy reportedly was in good health after the incident. Amherst police contacted the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families to file a report of potential abuse or neglect, said DCF spokeswoman Cayenne Isaksen. The agency is investigating the matter. A similar incident made international headlines and sparked a transatlantic debate in 1997 when a Danish mother was arrested after leaving her baby daughter in a stroller on a New York City sidewalk to go inside a restaurant for a drink. A federal jury in Manhattan later rejected her claim that police had falsely arrested her but did award her $66,000 in compensatory and punitive damages following the ordeal. DCF's Isaksen said the agency received more than 110,000 allegations of child maltreatment in 2009, the latest year for which data were available.

In-flight film "explains" mysteries of female pleasure

The in-flight entertainment on some planes run by Australian airline Qantas currently c o n t a i n s a somewhat unusual offering -- a movie that purports to elucidate the mysteries of female sexual pleasure.
The 50-minute French film "The Female Orgasm Explained," which includes naked scenes, is carried on long-haul "Video on Demand" aircraft in the airline's "The Edge" channel -- complete with a warning that it is for mature audiences only. "In general programs are selected according to quality of content, box office/ratings, topicality and Qantas customer demographics," Qantas said in a statement, adding that programs were screened by their program team before licensing. Motorised beer cooler lands driver in court

An Australian man had his driving licence suspended for 10 months and was fined after he was caught driving a scooter made of a motorised beer cooler capable of carrying several dozen drinks while he was drunk. The unconventional scooter featured a cooler box mounted on a wheeled frame and powered by a 50 cc engine, complete with a steering handlebar. The cooler doubled
as a driver's seat and was able to hold up to 48 bottles of beer. Chris Petrie, 23 and from Queensland, bought the vehicle over the internet for $600. While assembling it at a friend's house the two sampled a few beers before Petrie decided to drive it home, and that's when the fuzz got involved. "By the time we built it, it was quite late so we thought we'd go for a bit of a test run. He was caught en route and found to be more than three alcohol limit, and was charged with drink driving and driving without a licence. In court, the judge asked if the cooler was fully loaded and was told it was full of canned rum and Cokes. The sentence included an A$500 fine.

A passenger on the flight said Depardieu, 62, the star of movies such as "Jean de Florette" and "Green Card," appeared to be drunk and insisted he be allowed to use the bathroom during takeoff, when passengers must remain seated. When he was asked by a hostess to return to his seat, Depardieu urinated in the aisle. "You could see that he had been drinking, but there were no comments. Snake that crashed funeral up for adoption

A 6-foot (1.83-meter) long tropical snake that showed up uninvited at a Pennsylvania memorial service in May has been nursed back to health and put up for adoption. The red tail boa constrictor was found near a parking area at Hershey Cemetery in central Pennsylvania as guests gathered for a funeral. The snake, which was not aggressive, was later handed over to Forgotten Friend, a reptile sanctuary. The boa constrictor was suffering from a minor respiratory ailment, likely because it had spent several nights in temperatures much cooler than those of its natural habitat in the rain forests of South America, the organization's president, Jesse Rothacker, said at the time. Rothacker said the snake had returned to health and was ready to be adopted. "The snake has had a chance to dine on many, many frozen rats and bask in the warmth of the (sanctuary's) reptile room," he said. "She's doing a lot better. She's at the point now that she's listed for adoption." Rothacker said the sanctuary was seeking an experienced owner and warned current boa constrictor owners against releasing their pets into the wild, an offense he said was tantamount to animal cruelty.

Broncos leave Knights hanging, Hodges hurt

Brisbane strolled past a Newcastle side desperate to strengthen its grip on eighth spot on the NRL ladder in a 26-6 result to close out round 24.
But the victory may have come at heavy price with star centre Justin Hodges in danger of missing the remainder of the season. Hodges, who scored one of the Broncos' five tries, lasted just six minutes into the second half before limping off with his third hamstring injury of the season. The team says the first kangaroo genome is a milestone in the study of mammal evolution. The ancestors of kangaroos and other marsupials diverged from other mammals at least 130 million years ago. Professor Marilyn Renfree of the University of Melbourne, a lead researcher on the project, said: "The tammar wallaby sequencing project has provided us with many possibilities for understanding how marsupials are different from us."

Labrador Retrievers are known for their hunting skills and friendly dispositions, but Beau, a black Lab who lives in Montana, is winning acclaim for his math abilities.
Owner David Madsen says if he tells Beau there are six dogs at the park and three dogs leave, and then asks him how many are left, the dog replies: "Woof, woof, woof." Beau has achieved a degree of celebrity for his counting skills, becoming a star on visits to shops, restaurants and cabins in the Flathead Lake resort in Montana where the Madsen family spends summers. "He counts, he adds and subtracts, he can do some division and has memorized square roots," Madsen said. Although a dog with math skills better than plenty of humans seems incredible, the local fire chief says he vouches for the dog's talents. "Dave will say, 'What's two and three?' Then the dog will go, 'Bark, bark ... bark, bark, bark,'" said Chris Ricciardi, chief of the Finley Point-Yellow Bay, M o n t a n a F i r e Department. He said the dog performs impromptu demonstrations at his family's restaurant, Ricciardi's, near Flathead Lake. "This dog is amazing," the fire chief said. "He caught on that rewards were associated with the correct number of barks," Madsen said. including a collection of scrapbooks that sold for $6,000, plus a 20 per cent buyer's premium and GST, others did not net as much as hoped. His gold medal, which was stolen from his Melbourne home and not recovered until 25 years later when a woman tried to sell it to an American sports enthusiast, went for only $11,250.
