researcher used census sampling method to obtain information from all the Equity Bank
employees

3.3 Description of Research Instruments

Data will mainly be collected using questionnaires, Kothari (2009) states that a questionnaire
consists of a number of questions printed or typed in a definite order on a form or set of forms.
The questionnaire may be mailed or delivered to the respondents by other means that are
expected to read and understand the questions and write down the reply in the space provided
after each question.

The questionnaires was self-administered. This method has low costs in administration, is free
from the bias of the interviewer, respondents have adequate time to give well thought out
answers ,respondents who are not easily approachable can be reached conveniently and large
samples can be used making the result more dependable and reliable

3.4 Description of sample and Sampling Design

Sample design refers to definite plan for obtaining sample from a given population it refers to
the technique or procedure the researcher would adopt in selecting items for sample (Kothari,
2004).The sample consisted of the entire population. The researcher will collect data from all the
80 respondents. The researcher will adopt a census design because the target population is small.

3.5 Description of Data Analysis Procedures

The information on the effect of strategic planning on organization performance was obtained
by using questionnaires and document analysis.

 The researcher will distribute questionnaires which was filled by respondents (AA
employees) and was collected for data analysis.
 Document analysis was used to obtain data on how has the organization handled
challenges caused by strategic planning process.

3.6 Description of the Data Collection Procedure

The researcher was given a permission to conduct this study from the Airads, high
confidentiality was assured to the interviewee. All respondents included in the study provided
their acceptance without force. The respondent was expected to give correct, accurate and
original information about what they were asked: everything said and talked about was kept
confidential. The questionnaires consisted of open-ended details and closed-ended questions
which were sub-divided into sections to capture the responses that were required. The researcher
personally administered the questionnaires to select leads that helped in administration of the
questionnaires to staff and keep them back to the researcher for comparison.
3.6 Description of Data Analysis Procedures

The study applied descriptive statistics in data analysis. This ensured that, data was analyzed in
a systematic way in order to come to some useful conclusions and recommendations. Data to be
obtained from the questionnaires, document analysis was coded, organized, analyzed and
presented in form of frequency, and percentages in tables pie chart and bar graphs.
