1. Opening with greetings from students to start learning

Assalamu'alaikum wr.wb, good morning everyone, how are you today? Hope everyone
is in good health

Today, I will explain the topic of Trigonometric Comparison in Right Triangles and
how to solve it using one of the solution methods, namely the substitution method.

Core (27 minutes)

1. Explanation of the material by the teacher

All right, what is Trigonometric Comparison in Right Triangles? A right triangle is a
triangle in which one of the angles is 90 ° . In a right triangle, there is a hypotenuse
called the hypotenuse. The square of the hypotenuse is the sum of the squares of the
other two sides. Systematically, the Pythagorean theorem can be stated as follows.

a 2+ b2=c 2
where a and b are the right sides and c is the hypotenuse. For more details, consider
the following image.

Sisi siku-siku
 Comparison of sine (sin), cosine (cos) , tangent (tan) , cosecant ( scs), secant
( sec), and cotangent ( cot ) .

To find trigonometric ratios, we use right triangles. For that, we must know the
location of the front, side, and slanted sides. For more details, see the following
picture:

 The hypotenuse is the side opposite the right angle.

 The Front Side is the side opposite the angle .

 Side Side is the other side of the right angle.

After knowing the hypotenuse, front side, and side, then we will discuss the definition
of sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent

I have explained above how to know the trigonometric ratio, then you already know
the hypotenuse, front side, and side side origonometry , next To better understand the
discussion above, let's try to solve the following questions:

Example :
The right triangle at B . If BC=4 cm and angle BAC=30 degrees. So, the lengths of
sides AB and AC are...

Answer

First, we can determine using the sine value to calculate the length of AC as follows
1
(sin 30 º= ):
2
so,

BC
sin 30 °=¿ front side/slope side ¿
AC

1 4
=
2 AC

AC=4 ×2

AC=8

To find the value of AB, we can use the trigonometric ratio of the tangent as follows ¿

BC
Tan 30° = front side/side =
AB

1 4
=
√3 AB
4
AB=
√3

So that the values of AB and AC are 8 cm and 4√3, both through trigonometric
comparisons and the principle of special triangles.

2. The teacher gives several questions to students as evaluation material for the
material
To strengthen your understanding, I will give you some questions that you can use as
practice and you can collect them in the next week. Worked individually!
Exercise :
1. Given a right triangle ABC with a right angle at A. If the length of
BC=5 cm , AB =4 cm, find the length of the side AC !
2. Explain the meaning of the trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine, and tangent in a
right triangle
3. Given a right triangle ABC with a right angle at A . If the length of
BC=5 cm , AB =4 cm, find the value of sin B!
4. Given cos x= p , where 0< x <90 , find the value of sin x !

Closing (1 minute)
Thank you for listening to my explanation, if today's explanation can be understood
well which of course can make you understand Trigonometry Comparison in Right
Triangles and can be useful for all of us. Stay strong, and stay healthy everyone. See
you next week! Wassalamualaikum wr. Wb
H. Evaluation
Assessment of learning processes and outcomes is carried out by teachers to measure the level
of achievement of student competencies. The results of the assessment are used as material for
preparing reports on the progress of learning outcomes and improving the learning process.

Question :

Given a picture as follows

Which is the hypotenuse, the opposite side and the side side of angle A ?
Can you name the definition of sine , cosine ,tangent , cosecant , secant , and cotangent ?
