CAPE HISTORY INTERNAL ASSESSMENT

1) Topic and Question- Identify a relevant topic from syllabus then derive a question from the topic.

2) Statement of the Problem or Thesis Statement - thesis must be clearly stated, specific, testable.

3) Introduction- see notes/handout/ drop box on components of an essay/research

paper/argumentative essay. Remember historical background is included in this

section (i.e. setting related to wider historical context).

4)Body of research- must have evidence to support your arguments, analyze don't make the paper into

a descriptive piece. Again see notes/handout/ drop box on components of an

essay/research paper/argumentative essay. For instance ensure you have your topic

statements.

5) Conclusion- incorporate thesis, evidence presented, REMEMBER no new ideas. see notes/handout/

drop box on components of an essay/research paper/argumentative essay.

6) Bibliography- see MLA Format on drop box

Use both primary and secondary sources, at least one (1) primary source

Try to use at least seven (7) different sources. See power point on sources - drop box
