Bulk unit weight and voids in aggregate is an efficient method often used to determine bulk

density values that are very necessary for use for many methods of selecting proportions for concrete
mixtures. Also, it may be used for determining mass or volume relationships for conversions in purchase
agreements.

This activity was carried out last February 16 , 2023 in CE Laboratory. Using a manpower, the
first thing we did was talk about the things and such matters that we needed to be accomplished. Then,
the procedures were then carried out by our group members. We then get the appropriate number of
sieve required in the process (sieve No. 4) and sift the sample aggregates and separate the coarse
materials. After collecting a coarse aggregates, we washed them with flowing water. All along, we dried
it with sun’s heat until it will completely dried.

We then measured the volume of the cylinder while our aggregates were drying simply by filling
the cylinder with water and test its temperature using the appropriate thermometer. Indeed, the
temperature of the water is then obtained in order to calculate the specific density to be used in
calculation. When the aggregates had completely dried, we split them into three halves. Each section
was evenly placed in the cylinders and rodded it using the required size of tamping rod with 25 strokes.
Before weighing it, we leveled the surface of the aggregates by using our hands. Lastly, we get the
weight of the aggregates. All these procedures are applied to all parts. Finally, data was obtained for us
to analyze and interpret the results.

All of the activities were finished on February 21, 2023 and passed on February 22,2023.
