Safety
4.1 Travel Safety 4.1.1 State Department and International SOS Travel Warning There are currently no State Department travel warnings, however, International SOS has flagged Ecuador as an increasing/peak activity area for the H1N1 virus. Point to point travel detail Arrive in Quito, Ecuador airport on January 1st, 2010 and taxi to the bus station. Take San Francisco line bus from Quito to Puyo. Walk to Las Palmas Hostel (Address: 20 de Julio y 4 de Enero Puyo, Ecuador). Take bus from Puyo to Tsuraku. Site Safety Health and Safety Plan o Safety Plan The team will always be in groups of two or more whether traveling or performing assessment tasks. If for any reason the team is split up, the central meeting location will be the place of lodging: The Blue House in Quito or Las Palmas in Puyo. The central staging location while in

No extreme weather or political unrest is anticipated. However, should extreme weather occur the team will meet at the central meeting locations described above and if needed further action will be determined. Project Location
The village of Tsuraku is located in the eastern Andes Mountains in the secondary rainforest. It is about two hours away from the city of Puyo (1 28 S, 77 59 -1 W) on the road to Macas (2 19 S, 78 7 W).

Number of Persons directly affected: 200 people currently living in Tsuraku Number of Persons indirectly affected: 1,000 members of the Shuar tribe that Tsuraku serves
