Beginning my statement of purpose. February 28th.

I'm Walys Vera. I'm student of mathematics to the University of Antioquia. Since school, I felt
motivated by the exact sciences in its defect for math, I have always considered them as a
tool or bridge to connect with other aspects of my life, because I believe that mathematics is
the basis of knowledge, regardless of the area of academic training that each one has.
Undergraduate has meant endless personal challenges, and today I feel proud of what I
have achieved, how I have managed to advance and the ways in which mathematics has
helped me open paths to achieve my dreams. I can find mathematics and its applications in
the most simple things in life and I like that, also with my undergraduate I have gone to
travel, take pictures, teach and learn with more people who also like math like me and are
interested in exploring and teaching it.

I studied mathematics because I like it and I can also advance in the workplace with the
challenges that today's modern world demands.

My greatest inspiration has been to bring my passion for mathematics and photography to
the same plane, considering the world as a space to connect knowledge and show that it is
not utopia but a space where everyone can do mathematics, so that is where I focus my
skills to teach from the simplicity of life itself.
