PRODUCT SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

Background of the Study:

In a study conducted by Ratnasri (2021) Vending machines are automated machines that

dispense various products which are functioned when a customer inserts currency or credit into

the machine. Generally, vending machines are used to dispense snacks and beverages. In this

paper, the focus will be on a type of vending machine that sells basic school supplies. The

bookstore vending machine is a great way to get students some of the things they need for

school, without having to go out. The vending machine has been around for years, but it has

recently become more popular because of its convenience and ease of use.

The Bookstore Vending Machine is an innovative new way to sell and distribute school

supplies. It is a self-service kiosk that allows customers to purchase basic school supplies

without having to wait in line or interact with a salesperson. The machine is stocked with a

variety of school supplies and customers can browse the selection and make their purchase using

a currency or credit. This new vending machine will allow customers, especially students to

purchase school supplies from a vending machine that is located in the school bookstore. Thus,

this business can be treated as an extension of the bookstore business.

The concept of a vending machine selling school supplies is present in some universities

in America, such as the University of California. Our team has taken inspiration specifically

from Japan. However, it is not popular in universities or schools in the Philippines. Thus, we

propose to sell our business idea to Philippines universities, focusing mostly on FEU branches,

with us being FEU students having experienced the need of such the most.

Investment Cost:

Investment costs may range from P230,000.00 to P300,000.00. However, the useful life

of vending machines may range from twelve years to twenty-four years. Thus, even if the initial

investment costs seem high at first, there is also an option of renting said vending machines

during the business startup period. We also consider buying second-hand vending machines for a

smaller investment cost. To finance such costs, there are options to either finance it with capital

from investors or finance it through long-term loans due to high costs.

Form of Business:

Our company is a partnership between a managing partner and limited partners and limited

investors. The managing partner controls all operations, while the limited partners and limited

investors are part of the company’s management team.

Business Location:

We're going to install our vending machine in the canteen where it can easily be accessed

by both employees and customers. It will dispense our products whenever customers want them.

We chose the canteen because it is the busiest place in school. The students are always eating,

talking, and working on their projects so it is a great opportunity to have a bookstore vending

machine because our product will recognize by the students who are in the cafeteria.
