A. Reviewing previous lesson or “Wave twice” if the statement or situation is TRUE about weather
presenting the new lesson instruments and do the “heart” hand signal if it is FALSE.
(ELICIT) 1. Thermometer is used to measure temperature.
2. Rain gauge measures the amount of rainfall or precipitation over a set
period of time.
3. Anemometer is used to tell the direction of the wind.
4. Atmospheric pressure is measured using hygrometer.
5. Anemometer spin its cups very fast during stormy weather.

Remind the pupils that different weather instruments are used to tell the
weather condition for the day. Once it was detected, people can plan their
daily activities and can prepare for dangers and calamities when the weather
conditions become worse.

The different weather conditions help us to make necessary preparations for
the activities that we are going to do. Knowledge of the weather conditions
also keeps us safe and secured.

Mabel : Father, Mother, it's still very early, why is our radio "on" already?
Mother : It's your father. He wants to listen to the news specially about the weather bulletin.
Miko : But why?
Father : You know that I am fisherman and the sea could be very dangerous. So I listen to the
radio to know if the weather will be fine.
Miko : Now we know. It would be very hard if you caught suddenly in bad weather. So you
listen to the radio so that you could decide whether to go out to the sea or not.
Mother : That's it. I also listen to the weather report specially if I'm going to the market in town.
Knowing the weather conditions, I could decide whether to bring my umbrella or not.
Mabel : Aha! Maybe Mother you could tell us about today’s weather condition so that we won't
get caught by a sudden downpour of rain on our way to school.
Miko: We can also plan for the game we will play after the class.
Mother : Sure! You may also observe the sky before leaving the house.
Miko and Mabel: Yes mother, Thanks!

1. Why does Mabel's father listen to the radio every early morning?
Mabel’s father is fisherman and the sea could be very dangerous so
he listen to the radio early in the morning to know if the weather will
be fine and safe to go out to the sea or not.
2. Does her mother listen to it too? Why?
Yes. Mother listens to it too so she can decide whether to bring her
umbrella or not if she is going to the market in town.
3. What lesson did Mabel and Miko learn?
They learned the importance of tuning to the radio for the weather
update for them to decide what are the things they need to prepare
and what activities they are going to do.
