Activity A:
Lead-in
Any type of work that generates or helps a company to reduce costs and increase quality in order to
have greater flexibility in the company can be outsourced. Most are related to services, but this does
not mean that the production or manufacture of these cannot be outsourced.

 Technical service, example: a consulting company or technology experts

 Professional services, example: a buffet of lawyers
 Customer service, financial service, collection.
 Manufacturing, production, manufacturing service, example: outsourcing the manufacture of
certain products or parts of it.

Advantages for country outsourcing

 Confer specific areas to other companies abroad to specialize certain work, seeking quality and
minimizing costs.
 Increase the company's capacity to carry out certain activities in which it is not specialized,
allowing it to be delegated to specialized organizations.

Disadvantages for country outsourcing

 Loss of control in certain important areas of the company that was transferred to a company
abroad.
 Dependence on the supplier in certain important sectors of the company.

Advantages for country where work is done

 Open a new market, jobs and direct investment.
 Product and company control.

Disadvantages for country where work is done

 Difficulty in getting qualified employees.
 The quality of the product or service could be lost.

Felipe: The scenario we chose is number 1. Camila and Lyz are two Colombian businesswomen in the
technology area and they need engineers to innovate, as good partners they are, they will discuss the
issue.
𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚: Hi lyz how are you? I want to tell you an idea that came to me because of how difficult it has
been to find good engineers in Colombia
𝐋𝐲𝐳: Hi Camila, I'm fine and you? Ok I heard you
𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚: I was thinking that we could consider outsourcing specialized engineers to help us develop the
software we are needing faster
𝐋𝐲𝐳: what we can do to solve that is, look for graduated professionals from the best universities and
with the best averages, as well as having experience in software
𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚: This can be an opportunity to save time and focus on other activities of the company that
need more attention
𝐋𝐲𝐳: looking for engineers from outside the country and who meet the requirements can take a long
time as it can be much more expensive, in addition we would not have how to verify that the
experience they have is qualified for our requirements
𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚: Don't worry about the time of looking for a foreign company, a few days ago I was talking to
several companies and I found one that belongs to Elon Musk that is interested in developing the
software and even a good price
Felipe: Our conclusion is: Outsourcing is a good option when what you need is to look for experts in a
specific area, where minimizing costs and ensuring quality is the most important thing.
