Activity 1. What is Color in art?

- Color is a basic element of art that involves light. It is produced when light waves
(wavelength) strike an object and are reflected into our eyes. Each light wave has a distinct
color. Objects appear to be different colors because some wavelengths are absorbed while
others are reflected or transmitted.

Activity 2. What are the attributes of color?

- Color has three key attributes – hue, value and intensity or chroma. Hue is the color itself, value is the
brightness of the hue when mixed with white and black, and intensity or chroma is the dullness and
brightness of color not mixed with black or white.

Activity 3. Who is Henri Matisse?

- Henri Matisse, in full Henri-Émile-Benoît Matisse, is a French painter, sculptor, and graphic artist.
artist often regarded as the most important French painter of the 20th century. He was the leader of
the Fauvist movement about 1900, and he pursued the expressiveness of color throughout his career.
He is born December 31, 1869, le Cateau, Picardy, France – died November 3, 1954, Nice.

Activity 4. What is Fauvism?

- Fauvism is an art movement that was established towards the beginning of the 20th century.
Characterized by its bold colors, textured brushwork and non-naturalistic depictions, the Fauvist style
marked a seminal moment in the early 20th century.

Activity 5. Create your own MONOCHROMATIC inspired masterpiece. Use a separate sheet.
Activity 6. Using your new knowledge on colors and color combinations. Draw like a Fauvist. Use a separate
sheet.

Activity 7. Write your insights regarding the learning task. Make sure to mention at least three learnings you
gained from this topic.

The things I learned from this topic are;

 The lesson activities are harder than I previously thought.

 I need to further improve my poor coloring skills.
 Fauvism artwork looks easy to me yet I found it hard to accomplish.
