There are 12 ULBs in Uttar Kannacla D istlict
having 3,89,506 population. The overall solid
waste generation tiom the ULBs is arour:rd 136
1' / day. All the ULBs have identitled Solid
r.vaste processing tacilities except Kr-rtlta ancl
Jali. Dandeli is yet to establish sanitary land
fill. Other ULBs have sanitary land till and
compost plants. Basic infrastructures al:e
provided with compound wall, gate' Security
internal roads sheds.
A1l ULBs of the District are collecting
segregated Garbage at doot'to door level ancl
segregated waste is being transported to the
facilities lbr further
In all the facilities the segregated u'aste like
plastic, paper are stored separately ancl olganic
waste is being composted. Nor:mall1' tirey are
using 35 days cycle. Sanitary land llll tircilities
are established in aIl the tlLBs except Krurta
ancl .lali and Dandcli. In Kr.lnita lanci is uncler
dispute, and in Jali land is yet to be procurecl.
Kumta TMC is disposing dry inert waste in
Honnavar site. Wet waste is compostecl
<lecentralized way. The compost is being
packed in the 25 Kg bags sold to the local
f-armers. The segregated plastic and paper arc
hancled over to the authorizeci venclors Lbr"
recycling. Seized plastic waste and c'leauecl
scrap / waste plastic items were disposed tcr
cement plants (Dalmia Cement Plant, Belgavi
