It goes without saying that the unbridled

use of cars is one of the most noteworthy

issues facing us today. Even so, we lack the
practical solutions needed to combat this
problem, with those commonly suggested
being often discussed yet rarely understood.
First of all, it is worth considering that not
everyone is in need of a personal vehicle, and
that some only find themselves using them on
special occasions. That being said, I suggest the
authorities consider introducing a law which
limits ones possibilities of owning a car. For
example, people who live considerably close to
their designated workplace would be obligated
to use other means of transport in order to get
to work. What’s more, the number of cars per
household could be limited, with smaller
families needing no more than one. If this were
to become global, I am certain it would help
reduce car-use.
Second of all, another considerable factor
when it comes to this issue is people’s
hesitance to lean towards using public vehicles.
In order to resolve this, authorities must try
their very best to limit how much money is
spent on designging and manufacturing new
car models and features yearly, when those
funds should instead be reinvested into public
transport systems in order to make them look
and feel more appeasing. I find this to be more
significant than anything else, as it promotes a
sustainable way of using cars. People would
depend on them in case of an emergency, but
wouldn’t feel the need of using them on a daily-
basis.
To sum up, excessive car-use is something
we can resolve by making sacrifices and taking
the right measures, efforts which, one day, will
surely pay off
