• Write a short text (between 10-12 sentences) on one of the questions/ discussion points

from the document: ESL-Brains-For-these-women-reading-is-a-daring-act-SV on Moodle.

a) What kind of barriers do women in your country have tolerate ? (deal with)

b) Do you think there are a lot of women that are illiterate in the world? (cannot read and
write)

c) How can we change the mindset of society in order to help women improve their
situation? (way of thinking)

d) What countries, in your opinion, oppose most with gender inequality? (fight)

 If there were more female politicians, there would be no wars in the world.
• If governments give more money to women's organizations, they will spend it on education.
• If boys and girls were treated the same way, the problem of gender inequality would be
solved.

Upon searching online about gender inequality majority of the websites and discussions will
land focus on how this social construct mainly disturbs the females society and not the male,
leading to more negligence to the fact gender inequality affects both sexes equally. This
ultimately forces fewer men to contribute in the gender equality as they are ignorant to how
this stand is relevant for them in terms of health, education levels and society. It’s a frequent
miscomsopsition that if men and women are treated the same way, the problem of gender
inequality would be solved when it truly would aid in more ways than one it however would not
solve this issue; As gender inequality is not limited to just how women (or even men) are
treated rather the obstacles and social situation in which they are in. An example of this is child
marriage and sexual harassment, In Bangladesh and elsewhere, child marriage is a major
pediment to a girl’s education, and majority of them are forced into marriages before the age
of 18 cause to miss school in order to become a mother by the age as young as 15. This shows
that even if boys and girls are treated the same we would still rise to problems facing gender
inequality as this is a social and political problem that would require not only physical changes
but also mental changes.
