D. Lesson Proper:

1. Motivation: What am I?
Directions: The teacher will ask a learner to read the statement and learners will
mention their last name to recite their answer.

Each morning I appear

To lie at your feet,
All day I will follow
No matter how fast you run,
Yet I nearly perish in the
Guide Questions:
midday sun.

What am I?
1. What is the riddle all about?
2. Do you have now an idea of what would be our topic for today?

2. Activity: SHADOW HAND!

Direction: The learners will follow the shadow formation as demonstrated by

the teacher.
***In this activity, learners will be tested with their ability to follow
instructions.

Materials: Rubrics
Flashlight Explanation 4 points
White background Cooperation 3 points
Collaboration 3 points
Total: 10 points

3. Presentation and Analysis:

The teacher and learners will process the following questions.

Guide questions:
1. What happened when you placed your hand before the source of light?[As I
placed my hand in front of the light source, a shadow was formed.]
2. Describe the shadow formed when you placed your hand further the source of
light? [The length of the shadow shortened as I moved my hand further from
the source of light.]
3. Describe the shadow formed when you placed your hand near the source of
light? [The length of the shadow increased as I moved my hand closer to the
source of light.]

4. Abstraction:

The teacher will discuss the following;

 What is shadow?
[Shadows are dark patches that appear when light falls on the objects]
 When and how does the shadow form?
[Shadow is form when an opaque objects block the source of light]
 Where does the shadow form?
[Shadow formed in the opposite side of the light source]
 Is shadow essential to us?
[By telling time, essential for artists and for entertainment]

5. Application: THE SUNDIAL

Direction: The learners will assemble the improvised sundial. Upon assembling, the
teacher will instruct the learners to position the source of light on different angles.
After the activity, the learners will describe the length of shadows.
.
Materials: Rubrics
Improvised sundial (Card board Explanation 4 points
and Stick) Cooperation 3 points
Source of light Collaboration 3 points
Total: 10 points
E. Valuing:

Why shadow is important to our daily lives?

How can we integrate the Lakewood Core Values to our lesson today?

.
F. Generalization:

Shadows are dark patches that appear when light falls on the objects. The shadow of an
