Answer the following question using complete sentences.

Be sure to use Newton’s Laws of

Motion in your answers.
1. What happens according to Newton if you let an untied balloon go?
Law of Interaction, Air will rush out of the balloon forcing the balloon to move through the air in
the opposite direction, but equal in force.
2. Describe what happens if you are riding a skateboard and hit something (like a curb) with the
front wheels?

Law of Inertia, if you are riding a skateboard and the front wheels hit something like a curb, the
skateboard will stop but you will continue to be in motion.  You might be thrown forward. The
outside force acts on the skateboard thus it will stop. However, there is no outside force acting on
the person riding the skateboard, thus it will continue to move forward.
3. Describe what happens if you try to push Mr. Larson. What happens if he pushes back?
Law of Acceleration, if you put force on Mr. Larson, force will be put back on you. Because of
Mr. Larson’s mass, you most likely will not have enough force to make him accelerate. If Mr.
Larson pushed you, you most likely would move in the direction of the force since he has more
mass.
4. Describe why you hold your gun next to your shoulder while deer hunting.
Law of Interaction, when you pull the gun's trigger, it forces the bullet out of the gun, but at the
same time, the gun is forced in the opposite direction of the bullet (towards you). Your shoulder
is a new force that is introduced in order to keep your gun from flying away from you.
5. Why should we wear seatbelts-use one of Newtons’ Laws in your answer?
Law of Inertia, if we are in an accident our body doesn’t keep moving at the same speed and in
the same direction that the car was going. A new force would be introduced to our bodies (the
seatbelt) in order to keep our bodies in place.
6. Using Newtons’ laws explain why heavier object require more force than lighter objects to
move or accelerate them?
Law of Acceleration, if with more mass moving at the same acceleration as a lighter object
would require more force to change its speed or change its direction. Our formula F=m x a is
derived from Newton’s second law.
7. How do Newton’s laws affect your daily life?
These laws affect our lives every time we move or we something moving, for example we want
to close or open the door, we need force to do it the door can’t move without our force, but we
should know how much force we use, because sometimes our motion defined emotion and
feelings, for example we close the door so hard and other people think that we are mad to them,
that’s why we should know how much to force to give. Sometimes the law of motion makes us
safe like wearing seatbelts that we answer before it will save us upon accident, on lifting an
object if the object how much the mass of an object is, can we lift it or not that’s why law of
motion is important. On sport like basketball when the player is shooting the ball. When the
player is holding the ball, the ball is at rest but when a player shoots the ball, they use force to
throw the ball in the hoop. When the ball goes through the hoop and comes down it bounces a
few times then stops because no external force is acting upon it. Also, when the ball hits the
backboard the force of the backboard slows the ball down some. Law of motion can apply on
how you treat other people like the 3 rd law of motion the law of interaction “For every action,
there isa an equal and opposite reaction”. If you treat other people good, good things will come
to you if bad, bad things come to you.
