The most stringent test for fidelity, however, is length. Constancy is thus the
fourth aspect of loyalty. For one or two days, maintaining consistency is
simple. Consistency over the course of a lifetime is challenging and crucial.

with so much hope! They are a call to patience and optimism. All are guided
into completion by the Lord, the Lord of history. God's plan of goodness and
mercy will be carried out, despite the tumult and catastrophes that disturb the

"Jesus' forerunner is like a star heralding the rising of the sun, of Christ." John
the Baptist outperforms all prophets, of whom he is the last. He proclaims the
gospel, rejoices in Christ's arrival, and rejoices in being "the bridegroom's
