Write the Introduction and major contributions of Imam Ghazali, Shah Waliullah
and Allama Iqbal. Write the names of at least three books written by them.
Imam Ghazali
Al-Ghazali was born in 450 AH (1058-1059 CE), in the city of Tus, modern-day Iran. He is
known by many Westerners as Algazel, a Muslim theologian, jurist, philosopher, and mystic
whose work has had a profound and lasting impact on Islamic thought.
Al-Ghazali was a significant figure in spreading Sufism and Sharia law. He was the first to
consolidate the ideas of Sufism into law and the first to provide a formal depiction of Sufism in
his works. His works support Sunni Islam, contrasted with different schools of thought.
Books:
Three of his books--Ihaya' Ulum ad-Din (Revival of Religious Sciences), Tahafut al-Falasifa
(The Incoherence of Philosophers), and al-Muniqidh min a-alal (al-Ghazali's Path to Sufism: His
Deliverance from Error)-are still widely read and circulated among Islamic scholars today.

Shah Waliullah
Shah Waliullah was born in 1702/03 in Delhi, India. Shah Waliullah was a theologian who
attempted to reassess Islamic theology in the light of modern changes. His work was
instrumental in modernizing Islamic thought and is still used today to help understand the faith.
Shah Waliullah was a religious reformer who helped bring Muslims closer to their religion and
had a plan for the restoration of Muslim power in India. He was one of the most important
figures in Subcontinent's history.

Allama Iqbal
Allama Iqbal was born on November 9, 1877, in Pakistan. Allama Iqbal is one of Pakistan's most
respected and renowned poets and thinkers. He is also the National Poet, and his work is highly
influential both in his homeland of Pakistan and around the world. His poems often explore the
spiritual and mystical aspects of life, and he has also made significant contributions to
philosophy and politics.
Iqbal was a very important figure in the development of Muslim identity. He helped his
community to understand their religion, history, tradition, and culture in a more dynamic way,
and he believed that life should be lived in a way that is constantly evolving.

Iqbal is famous for his poetry, which includes the Tarana-e-Hind, Asrar-e-Khudi Rumuz-i-
Bekhudi, and the Bang-i-Dara. He also wrote many political, philosophical, and historical
commentaries.
