Topic/ Presentation: MICROBIAL DISEASE OF THE DIFFERENT ORGAN SYSTEM:
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM .

REFLECTIVE LEARNING SHEET #15

1. What are the things that I learned most about the topic?
Aside from blood, our body organs need oxygen to perform well. The body organ
responsible in facilitating the air that enters our body is the respiratory system. Lungs,
airways and blood vessels are the organs that plays the role to transport the oxygen
throughout the body and eliminate waste gases like carbon dioxide. Diseases occuring
on respiratory system affects the throat, sinuses, lungs (main organ), and airways. Typical
diseases acquired such as colds (usually happens as an indication that a virus is
detected) can be treated with over-the-counter drugs available and won’t be crucial.
However, if it happens more often, that’s the time that it due to another health problems.
There are various baterial and viral infections explained, such as: pharyngitis (throat
inflammation), scarlet fever (commonly happens to children), diphteria, otitis media,
tubercolosis, bacterial and viral pneumonia, respiratory syncytial virus infection, coryza
and influenza; and even fungal diseases like histoplasmosis infection, coccidiomycosis,
pneumocystis pneumonia, and blastomycosis. The most common among the symptoms
are cough and fever. They have also discussed the symptoms, treatments, bacterial
causes, and how these diseases could be transmitted or passed on to other people.
It is critical that we understand the causes, targeted sites, symptoms, impacts, and
medications of disorders connected to respiratory tract function since it supplies oxygen
throughout the body and is a necessary component for the other organs to operate
effectively. Understanding this topic is also significant since it serves as a preventive
knowledge, making us aware of the importance of acquiring or averting as much as
possible because if not treated appropriately, it may escalate to a more severe condition
or indicate other complications.
2. What particular part of the presentation becomes hard for me to understand?
None, as all of the topics covered in the presentation, particularly the
pathophysiology of the diseases or conditions in concern, were adequately discussed.
Although there were some complicated descriptive words. Aside from that, everything
makes sense.

3. What is the next topic to be discuss and the things I need to ask during discussion or
upon looking on the presentation?
