How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

X student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

X Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog,
presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Lesson idea implementation:
Students will create a presentation on a topic of their choice. I would show them how to use
sway by creating a presentation of my own with the instructions and goals they are to meet
for their presentation. They will use the computer to gather information and complete their
presentation. They may include pictures and videos to support their topic. Students will
upload their project to dropbox for the teacher and their peers to review and provide
feedback.

Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? Co-use/Co-engagement, exploration
activities to extend their learning about a topic, time-on-task with continued focus on the
learning goal.
Students can Co-use/Co-engage using other tools to extend their learning like books, and
magazines. They can work in groups collaborating on content which involves critical thinking.
The teacher can use chat time or kahoot to bring students back on task while assessing what
they have learned.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

The student has multiple ways to interact with the content on Sway to show what they have
learned through slides, storytelling and videos. They can also narrate their presentation in
their native language.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

Providing flexibility in the learning process will show students their weaknesses and strengths,
providing strategies they can use to enhance the learning experience. I look forward to seeing
the student's finished product and sharing it with the class. It will be exciting to see the
creativity the students possess.
