¿When is it used??
We use the past simple to express
that something ended or was
completed, and that the period of
time in which it happened has also
ended.

The rules are as

follows
Was: I, He, She, It.
Were: You, We, They

Affirmative
Subject + was/were + complement.

She was upset. (Ella estaba disgustada.)

They were friends. (Ellos eran amigos.)

Negative
Subject + was/were + not + complement.

She was not upset. (Ella no estaba


disgustada.)

They were not friends. (Ellos no eran


amigos.)

Interrogative
Was/Were + sujeto + complement?

Were they friends? (Eran ellos amigos?)

Was she upset? (Estaba ella disgustada?
