The Harmful effects of poor nutrition

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning Ma'am Ange by the way I'm
Andrew Lagura and my topic for today is also about the harmful effects of poor
nutrition but before we proceed to our discussion, who among here can tell a
possible effect of poor nutrition?

Cancer

An unhealthy diet (high in sugars, saturated and trans- fats, low fibre foods and
high-sugar drinks, heavy alcohol consumption, intake of fast food and processed
foods, low fruit and vegetable) can increase the risk of cancer. Overweight and
obesity are associated with atleast 13 types of cancer including: Endometrial
(uterine) cancer, breast cancer in postmenopausal women, colorectal cancer,
kidney (renal cell) cancer, thyroid cancer, pancreatic cancer, multiple myeloma,
liver cancer, ovarian cancer, adenocarcinoma of the esophagus, gastric cardia.
These cancers make up 40% of all cancer diagnosed.

Deficits in Brain Function

The brain develops most quickly in the first 1000 days of life, from the start of
pregnancy to the child's second birthday. Having a low level of iron during
pregnancy and early childhood is associated with mental and behavioral delays in
children. Ensuring that Iodine levels are high enough during pregnancy also helps
a growing baby having the best brain development possible.
