(Kansai Nerolac)
Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited is the largest industrial paint and third largest decorative
paint company of India based in Mumbai. It is a subsidiary of Kansai Paint of Japan. As of
2015, it has the third largest market share with 15.4% in the Indian paint industry. It is
engaged in the industrial, automotive and powder coating business. It develops and supplies
paint systems used on the finishing lines of electrical components, cycle, material handling
equipment, bus bodies, containers and furniture industries.

Kansai Nerolac Paints has 6 paint manufacturing plants and about 6–7 contract
manufacturers. The Nerolac owned plants are at 1. Jainpur, Kanpur Dehat (Uttar Pradesh)
2. Bawal (Haryana) 3. Lote, Chiplun (Maharashtra) 4. Hosur (Tamil Nadu) 5. Sayakha
(Gujarat) 6. Goindwal (Punjab) 7. Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) (Upcoming)

Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd. has entered into many technical collaborations with other industry
leaders such as E.I. Du-products.

The Mumbai-based company is the leader in the industrial paints segment with a market
share of over 40%. It is the third-largest player in the decorative paints segment with a
modest market share of 13%. Nearly 75% of the Indian paints industry consists of the
decorative segment.

Kansai Paint was founded by Katsujiro Iwai in Amagasaki City, Japan in May 1918. Kansai
Paint is a comprehensive manufacturer of paints and coatings. The Products include-
Automotive Coatings, Industrial coatings, Decorative coatings, Protective coatings and
Marine Coatings. They are also present in U.K., Turkey, U.S., Canada, Mexico, UAE.
Departments in Kansai Nerolac :

Decorative Sales and Marketing – You need to have a bachelor's degree from any of the
reputed universities and postgraduate qualifications in management with specialization in
marketing. You should have over 2 years’ experience in sales or marketing in consumer
durables, lubricants, paints or allied industries.

Industrial Sales and Marketing – A science or an engineering graduate from any of the
reputed universities and postgraduate degree in management with specialization in marketing
can apply for this function. You should have over 2 years’ experience in industrial – B to B
sales / technical services at Auto /Auto ancillaries or OEM companies.

Research & Development – We continuously innovate on products, processes, technology,


technical service and support to our OEM and other customers. We develop new colours and
shades. We have a well-equipped, world-class laboratory backed up by the Japanese
technology. We look for research minded people with academic qualifications in paint
technology, chemical engineering and related subjects with relevant experience.

Supply Chain / Materials / APO / Purchase – A good engineering degree supported by


MBA in supply chain, materials management and experience either in supply chain or
materials management would make you an ideal person for our requirement in this area.
Engineering degree and experience in administration of APO would also fit in our
requirement.

Information Technology / IT Support – The initiatives through SAP ECC 6.0 upgrade have
led to various opportunities for different SAP modules like SD, MM, PP, FSCM, GRC, EHS,
Data warehousing and Employee Portal (For knowledge management & work flows. You can
look forward to joining us if you possess requisite IT skills, SAP Modules exposure backed
up with academic achievements and real live project experience.

Human Resource Management and Development, Administrative Services - You can be


considered for jobs based in corporate office or in any of the plants. You must have have a
Post graduate diploma in HR /Personnel Management with about 2 years’ experience to your
credit.
Description of the Activities
The Section or Department where I worked as a IT Management Trainee is
responsible for function-based legacy system into a process-based organised system by
investing and implementing the SAP R/3 solution. Further measures to keep the company
abreast of the digital developments were also taken with the implementation of core SAP
applications like SAP R/3, SAP Supply Chain and supported dealer and vendor portals.

This foresight in the IT department puts the company eons ahead and gives it the necessary
edge to stay on the path of success and ensure transparency to all its stakeholders.

I have worked for SAP Management team where I worked with SAP Data files and AWS
data files. As a new employee I was assigned a task to find a bugs & testing of SAP & AWS
data. Identifying bugs is crucial in testing process. When you find a bug, it is essential to
report the bug for it to be fixed at quality level. Once the data is checked it moves from
quality to production where the live data of the company is recorded.

Overall, as a new employee you will work closely with the project manager and other team
members, to ensure that data testing is maintained. I experienced the same while working
with the management team. In my 3 months of work experience I go through different
responsibilities, one to one conversation, team meeting etc

Modules
Self-Assessment
During my internship period, I overview a lot of SAP modules related to Management
of business process such as materials management, production planning, human resource and
sales & distribution.

Additionally, I have also developed my interpersonal skills such as effective


communication, teamwork, time management, and problem solving. Collaborating with the
team members and receiving feedback on my work has helped me to improve my skills and
become more efficient in completing tasks. It has been a great privilege to have worked in an
industry like “Kansai Nerolac”. It is a big industry in comparison with other company’s
activities or production and also in comparison to other industry of its kind; it is a very good
work place.

Overall, this internship has been a great learning experience for me, and I am grateful
for the opportunity to work with such an experienced and supportive team.
