FEATURES: MTP Signal Processing I. Processing, Insertion of Cable-Specific

Data from External Data Sources
• PROCESSING AND INSERTION The Multi Transport Stream Processor System
OF CA, SI AND PSI DATA MTP is used to process MPEG transport streams The signals are processed according to the
following concept:
FROM EXTERNAL DATA SOURCES (ASI) in CATV headends in order to exchange
E.G. BARKER CHANNEL satellite-specific data by cablespecific data.
• CA (Conditional Access, EMM data), SI
• EXCHANGE OF SUBSCRIBER (Service Information) and PSI data (Program

• REDUNDANT POWER SUPPLY as well as possible PID renaming. • Filtering of data that is not determined
• REMOTE MONITORING VIA SHORT for transmission in the CATV network.

• REDUNDANT BARKER CHANNEL functionality: • Insertion of additional information into the
PROCESSING respective transport streams.
Multi-Transportstream-Processor-System DVB Professional Headend
Product Family MTP

• Adding corresponding cable-specific

information from regional or local transport
streams, and data from ISDN or Ethernet links.

II. Exchange of Subscriber Authorization

(Transcontrol without ECM exchange)

The MTP system filters the EMM information

from the data stream and replaces them by new
EMM information.
This method does not allow for a CA system
change, but the subscriber authorization can
be exchanged very easily. This data can be
generated centrally.
The new EMM information can be supplied either
via a Barker channel (additional information in
an MPEG transport stream) or via LAN/WAN and
ISDN.

III. Insertion of Additional Services

Another possible application of the MTP system

is the insertion of additional information in
local headends. Thus it is possible to upgrade
the transmission network by additional services.
For example, the most interesting Internet
pages can be continuously transmitted together
with regional advertisements, weather
information and regional news. However the
required transmission rate must be made
available in the MPEG transport stream for the
transmission of this additional information.

For this the MTP system can provide the

prerequisite by filtering undesirable services
(programs).

The data for the additional services can be

supplied to the MTP system either via a Barker
channel (additional information in an MPEG
transport stream) or via LAN/WAN and ISDN.
