Elafonisos Island Group Rules
Elafonisos Island Group Rules
01 Language
The official language of the group is U.S. English. The admins
are also fluent in Greek.
02 Intellectual Property
Please only upload content that is yours. Content that is not
yours, must be SHARED from the ORIGINAL source, not
downloaded and re-uploaded by you. Respect the intellectual
property rights of content creators. Do not share from other
pages that have expropriated images or videos.
03 Relevant Content
Please only upload content that is directly related to Elafonisos
Island. Nothing from the mainland, and nothing from other
countries.
04 Acceptable Content
Use common sense. Images and videos from Elafonisos Island
that you took yourself are the best content for this group. A
couple's or family's own travel photos are best. Try to upload
good quality images and videos. If they are sub par, i.e., poor
image quality, extremely low resolution, or shaky videos, do not
post them on the group.
05 Selfies
Selfies, where one's face or body completely overwhelms the
image, are not acceptable. Photos or videos where people are
featured are perfectly acceptable, as long as they do not
overwhelm the image. The landscape of Elafonisos Island must
be clearly visible in the background or foreground.
06 Description/Location
Please always include a meaningful description/location to
make it unnecessary for other members to have to ask: "Where
is this from?"
07 Advertising
Promotional materials are generally not acceptable. You may
share a relevant image or video from your own page, providing
that any links to your business and contact info are contained in
the body of the text/caption and not on the image/video itself.
08 Recommendations
A lot of members ask for recommendations. It is not polite or
acceptable to respond with: "Google it!" If you can help the
inquiring party, you may google the answer yourselves and
reply to him/her with it. Rude or sarcastic comments in
response to a legitimate inquiry will not be tolerated.
09 Help
Keep in mind there are lots of different members in the group,
from different cultures and backgrounds. Do not pre-judge
others based on your own bias or background.
10 Activism
No animal activism or personal/group cause of any kind will be
allowed in the group. This does not mean the admins condone
animal cruelty, or are in favor or against any particular dogma.
We simply do not tolerate activism in the group. Offenders will
not be given a second chance.
11 Orientation
The group is travel-oriented, not news-oriented. Do not post
news on the group, including virus, pandemic, or disease-
related stories.
12 No greeklish
You are welcome to post or comment in Greek or English, or
any other language, but never in greeklish. Simple, well-known
and frequently used greek words such as "kalimera" may be
allowed in latin characters, but no phrases or complete
sentences. Names and locations in latin characters are
acceptable, as long as they comply with the ISO 843/ΕΛΟΤ 743
standard.
13 No ALL CAPS
Typing in ALL CAPS means shouting and is against net
etiquette. Please compose your post or comment using
sentence case, not ALL CAPS. It matters not what you think of
ALL CAPS personally. Your post or comment in ALL CAPS will
be removed.
14 No Highjacking
Do not highjack the posts of others in comments. Upload your
own posts. If, for example, there is a post about a certain
island, do not post unsolicited images or other info about a
different island.
15 No animated GIFs
Do NOT post animated GIFs. Animated GIFs are digital
pollution. Animated GIFs consume a lot of energy, fill up a
computer's memory, cause Facebook web pages to stall, are
usually irrelevant to the subject, and are very annoying and
distracting from the original post.
16 No silly graphics
In addition to annoying and distracting animated GIFs, we
strongly discourage static cartoonish images, since most are
almost as distracting, overused and just as silly.
17 Contact
Do not contact the admins if your question can be answered by
other members of the group. Post on the group, instead of
sending a message to the admins.
Do not contact the admins if you have been muted for violating
a rule, as it may result in permanent removal. Contact the
admins ONLY in the event of an error on our part.
18 Warnings
We occasionally comment with reminders and warnings under
posts. These reminders and warnings are not meant for the
original poster (OP) or any particular member, unless he/she is
specifically referenced in our comment. These reminders and
warnings are meant for all members.
19 Reporting
Members are strongly encouraged to report offensive activity
on the group, such as soliciting, spam, crypto/bitcoin/Forex
deals, and other scams, as well as animated GIFs.
Always use the built-in function "Report to the Group Admins"
available next to all comments or posts. Do not engage with the
scumbags, and do not send a personal message to the admins.
20 Interaction
Interaction among members is perfectly fine, but this is not a
dating site. Never approach another member for friendship/
dates. If you need to communicate with another member, use a
personal message, if available, from his/her timeline. Never use
the group for one-to-one personal interactions.
21 Penalties
The penalties for violating the rules vary depending on the
severity of the infraction, and are completely at the discretion of
the admins. They range from simple removal of a post/
comment, to muting the offender for up to 28 days, to removal
from the group, or permanent block.
