Dear Dr. Gharakhani, 

I’m writing to express my interest in the doctoral program for the Department of Agricultural
and Biological Engineering. I have a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering and
Master of Science in Agricultural Mechanization, and I’m interested in Precision Agriculture.
My combination of education and experience makes me a strong candidate for this role. 

Since my family was poor farmers, I discovered my enthusiasm for precision agriculture to
increase yield by utilizing natural and chemicals sustainably in developing countries like
Ethiopia. It is my intention to pursue this subject at Mississippi State University. This
research is valuable in helping how to increase and sustain the productivity of the farmers.

In my previous position as a Lecturer, Land Preparation and Cultivation Foreman and Head
of Farm Machinery, I was responsible for recording and analyzing data from yield collected
from farmers for different purposes. During my time there, I saw they collect low yields per
hectares/acre. This additionally makes me more enthusiastic about pursuing a PhD program.

I’m interested in pursuing my research at Mississippi State University because your

Agricultural and Biological Engineering department is world-renowned and highly respected.
I’m confident my skills and enthusiasm will make me a strong addition to the department.
