From the findings, most new mothers embraced breastfeeding during the first week.

In the
second week, their number decreased; in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth weeks, there was a
gradual decrease in the number of new mothers breastfeeding exclusively. Most new mothers
were breastfeeding more in the first two weeks. As much as new others received support from
their healthcare providers and family members, more maternal education needs to be provided to
enable them to know the challenges associated with breastfeeding to continue with EBF. Based
on the TPB theory, it is evident that women with higher perceptions of support and
encouragement are more likely to embrace breastfeeding practices and continue with EBF. The
theory played a significant role in identifying different factors that would be relevant in
increasing EBF rates, thus developing successful breastfeeding among new mothers.
