SONY INTRODUCES NETWORK VIDEO CAMERA FOR REMOTE MONITORING AND WEB-BASED ATTRACTIONS

LAS VEGAS (InfoComm, Booth # 22006), June 12, 2002 - Sony Electronics today introduced the SNC-RZ30N network camera

featuring a built-in web server for remote viewing and capturing high-quality video over IP networks.

The camera, which works with any standard web browser, offers remote-controlled pan, tilt and zoom capabilities. It can

support up to 50 simultaneous on-line viewers in such applications as Internet-based remote monitoring and web-based attraction

viewing at amusement parks and tourist destinations.

"Our new network cameras illustrate how we are integrating A/V tools with IT standards for the broadband era," said Jim

Sandy, vice president of security and visual imaging products at Sony's Business Solutions and Systems Company. "As the industry

shifts from traditional closed-circuit television monitoring to `open-circuit' networking, we're giving our customers the ability to access

and control their cameras from just about anywhere in the world.

"In addition, we're helping them take advantage of emerging opportunities - such as web-based attraction viewing - and

creating new means to drive viewers to their web sites," he added. "The networking capability expands the functionality of the camera

from just a pure image acquisition device to a multifaceted remote surveillance system."

The camera produces high-quality motion JPEG images with 640x480 maximum resolution and up to 30 frames per second.

Images can also be compressed into JPEG files. It also features a Sony CCD, day/night view mode, SteadyShot® functionality and an

integral 25x auto-focus zoom lens with a CS mount.

The camera provides various support for networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DHCP, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Simple

Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Simple Messaging Transport Protocol (SMTP) and an RS-232C port, as well as a PCMCIA

slot for wireless networking.

 A built-in motion detector with relay output enables the camera to send an alert if unauthorized motion is detected. The camera

can also be mounted either on the desktop or the ceiling.

This product is the second offering in Sony's growing portfolio of IP-addressable network cameras. The previously announced

SNC-VL10P camera features TCP/IP, FTP, DHCP and Simple Management Transfer Protocol networking capabilities. In addition, it

offers a 25 frames-per-second frame rate of 360 x 288 picture resolution. It utilizes the Wavelet Compression format, which is ideal for

network transmission.

Sony's SNC-RZ30N network video camera will be available in July for a suggested list price of $1,695 and Sony's SNC-VL10P

network video camera is currently available at a suggested list price of $1,100.
