LYDIA HALL’S THEORY: CARE, CORE, CURE MODEL
CARE
Example:
Assisting the patients with bathing, taking pee, walking, laying down, etc.
Explanation:
The Care circle in Hall’s Theory talks about nurturing patients, it talks about how the nurses
should provide a motherly care unto the patients. Assisting the patients with their daily
biological functions is like a mother who always assists its child with the things he/she do.
Assisting the patients was a primary role of nurses and that is why it can be one of the
examples in the Care circle.
CORE
Example:
Having a heart-to-heart conversation with the patient, sharing stories about the struggles
and challenges that a nurse has faced in order to encourage the patient.
Explanation:
The Core circle is how a nurse could emphasize the patients social, emotional, spiritual,
and intellectual needs. Establishing a heart-to-heart conversation with a patient builds up
the confidence and encouragement of a patient to fight his/her illness and problems, it
could also lessen the patients in need of family support, and pandemic even made it hard
to the patients in isolation area, and by opening up and establishing a relationship with the
patient, the amount of recovery time of that certain patient will lessen.
CURE
Example:
Providing responsible and ethical nursing care in order to treat the patients need such as
giving medicines and checking vital signs of the patient.
Explanation:
The Cure circle is the actual process of healing the patient, this circle is shared with other
healthcare workers such as physicians. Providing a responsible and ethical nursing care in
the process of timely checking of vital signs and providing medicines on time could satisfy
the goal of this circle.
