METCO ZINC 4 IRE, TLE: Sec
Summary: METCO Zinc wire is a pure zinc wire manufactured exclusively
It is used to protect iron and steel against corrosion.
for Slane spraying.
METCO Zinc wire is certifiable as meeting Department of Defense specification
‘I-H-67128, Table II, zinc.
METCO Zinc vire can be sprayed with any METCO metallizing gun, using any fuel gas.
APPLICATIONS :
Zinc and alrminum are the two metals recomended for the protection of iron and steel
against corzosion, both in the atmosphere and when imersed in either fresh or salt water,
METCO Zinc vire is 99,9% pure and is not contaminated in the flame spray process, As a
result, flane sprayed zinc coatings are much purer than those applied by hot dip galvanizin
for instanec, since the molten cinc used in galvanizing picks up considerable iron, because
of the nature of the process.
METCO Zinc wire is partictlarly useful on work where all areas are not readily accessible.
small uncoated areas, scratches, and voids are protected electrolytically by zinc better
than by alusinum. However, it has poor resistance to acids and is recomended for
environments with a pH range of 6 to 12, It is much more resistant to hard water than
soft water. It has poor resistance in any water at temperatures above 140°F. For exposure
te acid conéitions, soft water and hot water, alumifum is the better choice.
In coatings about .00L" thick flame sprayed zinc is competitive in cost with painting or
plating on small parts which can be prepared and sprayed in tumblers, and offezs better
protection.
METCO Zinc vire is recommended as a primer on surfaces which will be painted, to form
electrically conductive surfaces on glass and ceramics and for use with many IETCO Systems
for Corrosicn Prevention.
