Integrated Power Management

This Course: Synergy Between University and Companies

Ø From the synergy between the experience matured at the University of Pavia and the
unique possibility of having experts from leading semiconductor industries, we have
decided to kick-off this course
Ø This course is unique (or for sure one of the few) in Italy and provides an important
complement (of the existing baseband analog circuits – amplifiers, A/D and D/A, filters –,
digital design, RF and high frequency) of the microelectronic knowledge offered by this
University
Ø 2 university professors (Edoardo Bonizzoni, Piero Malcovati) + 5 industrial experts
(Giovanni Frattini, Roberto Peritore, Francesco Rezzi, Giulio Ricotti, Stefano Ruzza)
Ø Theoretical basis together with an industrial viewpoint to transfer a knowledge on
integrated circuits and technique for power management

Integrated Power Management

Why This Course?
Ø The story dates back to the Fall 2005, at the end of my Ph.D., with a SIDO!

Integrated Power Management

Technologies for integrated power converters
and their parasitic elements
Lessons focus:

The lessons provides an overview of the design methodology to adopt to

avoid the principal parasitic effects in the integrated power converters
products. Many concepts and methods will be presented to easily
recognize a critical structures.

The lessons doesn’t cover the basic design building blocks, but it explains
how to make them work.
