THE COMPARISON (Gen 1 ) Jan

Feb

Mar

Apr
According to our research, there isn’t at all much difference between
generational evolution of healthy eating. May
All of our selected grandparents and theirs were not really involved in numerous Jun
sports. However, they both ate healthy. The only difference was due to our
Jul
cultural variances in diet were due to our vastly different cultures. Their
Aug
grandparents ate normal, western foods and our normal, eastern food such as
Dal and Roti. Both of our grandparents did not speak about mental health, but Sep

believe it is an important topic to be discussed. Oct

Nov
What differed even more, were the historical facts that they tried to recall. Their
Dec
group’s grandparents recalled several facts from the european region, while ours
🢀
recalled solely Indian historical facts.
The comparison (Gen 2)

Our parents both had active lifestyles, never spoke of mental health
but a few of their parents had grown their own ingredients for
food, while ours did not. Some of the sports they played were
similar too, such a volleyball. The food they ate differed widely and
that was again, only due to cultural difference. They were similar,
however, in the way that none of the chosen candidates from our
parents generation, or theirs, were similar. Again, we can see that
the previous generation may have been physically healthy, but
their mental-health was left unacknowledged.
The comparison (Gen 3)

Our generation stays passionate for junk food, across continents. However,
our counterparts’ interviewees were a lot more physically active than ours.
They did not play any sports, but they spent ample amount of time in the
gym. Moreover, they did not have any restrictions in terms of what they
can eat, our interviews did, such as not being allowed to consume beef or
foods with artificial coloring. All our interviewees, both Indian and Dutch
have discussed mental health, often, in depth. This may be due to our
immense exposure to the importance of the topic, through social media
and other internet sources.

Prisha
1. What was your task and how did you contribute to the group work (interviews, writing texts, communication, etc.)?

I conducted an interview, of my father asking him a few general questions about his childhood and then a few specific
questions on food. I made a transcript of this interview and sent it to my group members.

2. What was your most memorable learning experience? Which competencies did you develop further?

Through this process of taking interviews and collecting first hand information from our known circle allowed me to
understand and gain knowledge about the previous and current generations. I got an opportunity of interviewing my
father and asking him questions that maybe we would have never discuss if it was not for this research purpose.
Through this I got a sneak peak into his childhood days. Through this process I developed skills of doing primary first
hand research, most importantly teamwork and communication.

3. What went well? What would you have done differently? Think about: methods, group
work, technical aspects, collaboration with the partner school, etc.

I feel like I could have been more involved through the whole process with my group and more in-depth research. It
would have been great if we as a team would have sat together and discussed all of our individual research
collaboratively. Moreover I would have loved to gain more knowledge about their culture.
Afra
What was your task and how did you contribute to the group work?

- My contribution to the group was through conducting interviews on three people, Bridget, Malini and Vellika,
transcribing the interviews and clicking pictures and videos. I additionally helped write the comparison report between
the groups.

2. What was your most memorable learning experience? Which competencies did you
develop further?

- The interviews I collected were with family friends, so there were memorable moments and it was a fun time.

3. What went well? What would you have done differently? Think about: methods, group
work, technical aspects, collaboration with the partner school, etc.

- The communication through our group leader was done well, she delegated the tasks perfectly and so I was able to
meet timelines and ensure completion of my work. Although, I would have preferred more group meetings so everyone
could be involved in
the whole process.
Jiya
1. What was your task and how did you contribute to the group work(interviews, writing texts, communication,
etc.)?

My tasks involved conducting interviews and making transcripts and summaries for the same. I conducted an
interview for one of the grandparents – Anagha. I also made transcripts for various interviews. These were then used
to compare differences between each generation. Communication was mainly via our groups WhatsApp and online
meetings scheduled.

2. What was your most memorable learning experience? Which competencies did you develop further?

The most memorable learning experience I had was conducting the interviews. It was interesting to understand the
vast differences between each generation. Just listening to the interviews was enough to gauge these differences.
However, actually comparing each answer showed the scale the differences which was extremely fascinating. Some of
the competencies I developed further were investigating, research skills and teamwork. Conducting first hand
research is not something I get to do often so the interviews and drawing comparisons from the data were a major
part of skills I developed. Teamwork was also a skill I developed further as each team has different dynamics and
there is something new to develop
with each one.

3. What went well? What would you have done differently? Think about: methods, group work, technical aspects,
collaboration with the partner school, etc.

The conduction of the research and comparing findings went smoothly. The communication between our own group
was also efficient as it was mainly online and whenever any of us had doubts we could reach each in person as well.
This, however, was not the same with our partner group. it would have been great to have better and effective
collaboration with them.

1. What was your task and how did you contribute to the group work (interviews, writing texts, communica
tion, etc.)?

My job was audio transcription where the interview recorded by my fellow teamate was formated into a tra
nscript. The process helped alot on both sides where i converted a confusuing dialect for the opposite tea
m so they could read it well also for me i learnt about careful listening and patience picking up in nuances
in tone and inflection reflecting to active listening.

2. What was your most memorable learning experience? Which competencies did you develop further?

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from this experience was the importance of clear communicati
on. We established clear communication channels, such as regular team meetings, status updates, and p
roject timelines. We also encouraged team members to express themselves clearly and concisely, to avoi
d ambiguity and misunderstandings.
The competencies i developed further were the ones of problem solving where we analysed problems an
d helped in developing creative solutions as a whole.

3. What went well? What would you have done differently? Think about: methods, group work, technical a
spects, collaboration with the partner school, etc.

The thing that could have gone differently for our group was enthusiasm for this project as it is a two way
street where we were excited but the other group did not reflect upon our ideas and gave us mundane an
d simple questions about our culture where in a Country like India has diverse languages, rituals and sche
Matics. Our group could have done a better job for collaboration as it was not regulary discussed in person rather
more pn the whatsapp group.

1. What was your task and how did you contribute to the group work (interviews, writing texts, communication,
etc.)?

I conducted three interviews, Kairav, Ranjit , Amruta and Alivia’s. I also helped on making transcripts of all the
interviews, summarizing them and writing the conclusion and the comparison document. I made a whatsapp group
to ensure smooth communication, and passed on any messages and deadlines given by our teachers regarding the
next step in the process.

2. What was your most memorable learning experience? Which competencies did you develop further?

The conduction of primary research, through interviews was a great, hands-on learning experience. A lot of what we
now know, about the previous and current generations, we would not have known without this experience.
I developed competencies such as team-work, problem solving through communication. For example, I delegated
tasks (such as the conduction of an interview) and through coordinated efforts we solved any problems we faced
and brought forth results.

3. What went well? What would you have done differently? Think about: methods, group work, technical aspects,
collaboration with the partner school, etc.

A little more collaboration with our intellectual counterparts would have been great. Their culture is fascinating and
learning more about them and their habits would have enhanced our learning experience. Besides that, a lot of our
group’s communication was via Whatsapp, if I could do one thing differently, it would have been more in-person
communications.
